**About Anthropic** Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems—safe and beneficial for users and society. **About the role** Every change to Anthropic’s software must reach production: new code, runtime configuration, feature flags, and infrastructure changes. This team builds the systems that changes travel through—owning pipelines, staged rollouts, health-gated promotion, rollback, runtime configuration, feature flags, and the delivery of code/artifacts across a large fleet. You’ll own a meaningful part of the end-to-end deployment journey—from design through operating it in production. **Key responsibilities** - Set technical direction for major parts of the deployment platform (design, implementation, and operations) - Build rollout safety (progressive delivery, health-gated promotion, automatic pause/rollback, self-managed deploy controls) - Design APIs and abstractions for engineers and AI agents - Extend the platform to new workload types and runtimes (Kubernetes, serverless, edge) - Build and operate runtime configuration + feature flag systems (validation, gradual rollout, fast rollback) - Create infrastructure-as-code workflows for safe, routine changes - Scale artifact distribution so code/config reaches machines quickly and efficiently - Partner with Security to ensure secure-by-default paths to production (verifiable builds, least-privilege access, auditable changes) - Work with teams across Anthropic to bring their workloads onto the platform - Participate in on-call/incident response and turn learnings into guardrails **Minimum qualifications** - Proficiency in at least one backend/systems language (Rust, Go, C++, Java) - Experience leading design/build/operation of distributed systems or infrastructure in production (including technical direction across teams) - Experience with cloud infrastructure and containerized workloads (e.g., Kubernetes on AWS/GCP) - Strong written and verbal communication skills **Preferred qualifications** - Experience building deployment/release/change management systems at large scale - Production on-call and incident response experience - Rust in production - Progressive delivery and GitOps tooling (e.g., Argo CD / Argo Rollouts) - Deep Kubernetes knowledge (controllers/operators) - Terraform or other IaC at scale (state management/locking) - Feature flag, experimentation, or dynamic configuration systems - Artifact/package distribution (OCI registries, Nix, content-addressed storage) - Software supply chain security (e.g., signed build provenance) - High-throughput workflow engines/control planes backed by relational databases - Internal developer platforms and leading adoption across many teams - Experience using AI agents or building systems that agents operate **Representative projects** - Operator controls for progressive rollouts (pause/resume preserving rollout state) - Deployment engine built on fine-grained targets + dependencies - Cluster-health-aware rollouts that avoid unhealthy clusters - New workload type onboarding (rollout, verification, rollback) - Deployment control plane for bursts of agent-driven traffic - Distribution system delivering configuration/artifacts to every machine as demand grows **Compensation (Annual Salary)** $405,000 — $485,000 USD **Logistics** - **Minimum education:** Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/training/experience - **Required field of study:** Relevant to the role (via coursew
