About this role
**Senior Associate, Operational Intelligence, Labs** ## About the Team DoorDash Labs builds autonomous delivery robots and other autonomy solutions for DoorDash’s delivery platform. Operational Intelligence is a technical team within Technical Operations, developing internal applications, data integrations, and AI-powered workflows that help our robotics fleet operate reliably and efficiently. You’ll work closely with fleet support, service, Engineering, and Product teams to turn operational challenges into practical technical solutions. ## About the Role As a Senior Associate, Operational Intelligence, you’ll build and maintain applications, integrations, and automation that improve how teams operate. This is a hands-on individual contributor role where software development is a core responsibility. You’ll own features end-to-end—from understanding the operational problem through development, testing, rollout, and ongoing support. ## You’ll Do - Design and build full-stack features connecting frontend interfaces to backend services and data stores (requests, authentication, and data flow). - Instrument services with logging, metrics, and alerting to detect and diagnose failures quickly. - Partner with DoorDash Engineering and platform teams to align systems with infrastructure standards. - Work directly with operational users to identify recurring challenges, translate feedback into technical requirements, and deliver improvements. - Develop integrations and data workflows using APIs, databases, and automated jobs to improve information quality and reduce manual handoffs. - Contribute to AI-powered troubleshooting and decision-support capabilities (accuracy, usefulness, reliability, latency, and operating cost). - Use version control, code review, automated testing, and staging environments to validate changes before deployment. - Investigate application and integration failures, identify root causes, implement fixes/mitigations, and communicate findings. - Improve operational reporting by validating data relationships, metric definitions, and outputs. - Create technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, and user resources. - Measure impact via adoption, time saved, reduced manual effort, and workflow quality improvements. - Lead the transition of Operational Intelligence systems to a production-grade architecture (design decisions through migration). - Mentor Operational Intelligence Associates (code quality, testing best practices, documentation standards, etc.). ## We’re Excited About You Because… - 3–5 years of hands-on experience developing and maintaining software running in production. - Strong understanding of frontend + backend systems, including HTTP, client-server communication, authentication, and data flow. - Experience designing and consuming REST APIs. - Experience deploying and operating containerized applications (Docker, Kubernetes). - Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Buildkite) and collaboration via GitHub (PRs, code review, branching workflows). - Ability to write, debug, and maintain Python and JavaScript; use SQL to investigate, transform, and validate data. - Experience using LLMs and AI-assisted development tools effectively (including testing and maintaining generated code). - Experience with APIs, databases, and system integrations, including diagnosing failures across connected systems. - Comfort using the command line; collaboration with Git/GitHub and issue-tracking tools. - Root-cause-first
