**GNC Performance Engineer I — Relativity Space** **About the Team** The Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) and Performance teams define and analyze how Terran R flies—from liftoff to landing. The work blends advanced modeling, orbital mechanics, software development, and dynamic systems to optimize every phase of flight. You’ll develop flight algorithms, simulate trajectories, and model Terran R’s dynamic behavior across mission profiles. The department is part of the Integrated Performance team, uniting key disciplines to drive performance at every stage of the mission. **About the Role** - Carry out analysis for engineering design trades and drive design decisions based on results. - Implement, maintain, and improve software tooling across simulation and analysis utilities (multiple languages). - Maintain, establish, and sometimes lead cross-functional collaboration with key Vehicle Engineering teams. **About You** - BS/MS/PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field. - Experience with heavy cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced environment. - Proficiency with modern programming languages (e.g., Python, Julia, Rust, C++). - Ability to translate complex analysis into clear conclusions and recommendations to enable rapid decision-making. - Familiarity with architectural design and analysis of launch vehicle or space systems. - Familiarity with trajectory design and optimization. **Nice to haves (not required)** - Experience with advanced software practices such as Docker, CI/CD, and dependency management. - Prior work in a startup or agile development environment. **Compensation (Hiring Range)** $106,000 — $160,000 USD **Equal Opportunity** Relativity Space is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity.
