About this role
## Envoy — Staff Full-Stack Engineer (L5) ### About the role Envoy protects the places the world relies on most by unifying people, spaces, and communications in one secure, integrated workplace management platform. Trusted by 16,000+ workplaces globally, Envoy helps customers run secure, compliant, and connected operations across every location. This is the **delivery-focused track of L5**. You’ll drive the hardest, highest-impact features end-to-end—from problem definition and system design through production code, deployment, monitoring, and iteration—while mentoring engineers and shaping technical direction. **On-site:** 4 days/week (Monday–Thursday) in **San Francisco HQ**. ### What you’ll do - Lead major product features end-to-end: problem definition, solution exploration, system design, code execution, deployment, monitoring, and iteration. - Design and implement enterprise-grade services and user-facing experiences across the full stack (backend services, APIs, data models, and frontend). - Create clean abstractions and reusable systems that increase product velocity. - Own quality, security, availability, and performance of the systems you build. - Drive technical decision-making within your team and influence adjacent teams. - Respond to incidents, identify bottlenecks, and eliminate recurring toil. - Deliver excellent software through peer review, CI, and automated testing. - Mentor senior and mid-level engineers and raise the bar on craftsmanship. ### What you have - BS/MS in Computer Science (or related field). - 10–12 years of software engineering experience shipping and operating production systems at scale. - Strong full-stack depth (modern frontend + backend) and good judgment on where to solve problems. - Proven track record leading complex, multi-quarter initiatives from inception to launch. - Strong system design skills (data modeling, API design, scale, security, reliability). - Demonstrated ability to elevate teams through mentorship, code review, and technical standards. - Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration with Product and Design. - Bias toward clean abstractions and leverage over one-off solutions. ### Nice to have - Experience with multi-tenant enterprise SaaS (SSO, RBAC, audit logging, availability SLAs). - Familiarity with Kotlin, TypeScript, React, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Kubernetes). - Experience building platform features or integrations others build on. - High-growth/startup experience. - Familiarity with SOC 2 / ISO 27001 or similar compliance frameworks. - Experience partnering with security teams on secure-by-default infrastructure and access models. - Exposure to service mesh, advanced networking patterns, or multi-region architectures. - Experience applying AI-assisted tools/workflows to improve safety, speed, or operational signal. ### You’ll get - Deep engagement across the full technical stack (external interfaces, core platform architecture, developer productivity tooling). - High-leverage environment with tight collaboration across engineering, product, and design. - Full ownership and architectural autonomy over high-impact frontend + backend features. - A deliberate placement process to match your strengths and aspirations to the right initiative. - Competitive pay, robust benefits, and clear career advancement pathways. ### Apply By applying, you acknowledge you’ve read and understood the job requirements and the Envoy Privacy Notice for applicants: htt
