Website: https://www.engflow.com/ Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8UMhFS8esc ### Role Summary As a Software Engineering Manager focused on **build systems, compilers, and languages**, you’ll lead core engineers and drive development of key features for our platform. You’ll play a pivotal role contributing to open-source projects including **Bazel, gRPC, Goma, Soong, CMake**, and others—solving complex **scalability** and **performance** challenges. You’ll report to the **Head of Product Engineering**. Responsibilities include leading projects, managing a growing team, and contributing directly to both **product** and **platform engineering**. Over time, this role may transition from an individual contributor to a team manager. ### Responsibilities - Lead projects and drive delivery of platform features - Manage and grow a technical team - Contribute directly to product and platform engineering - Tackle scalability and performance challenges in build systems and compilers - Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders - Participate in an **on-call rotation** for escalated production issues ### Requirements - **Leadership experience:** Proven experience managing and influencing technical teams (hands-on remote management is a plus) - **Optimization passion:** Strong interest in optimization, especially for compilers, programming languages, and build systems (e.g., **Bazel, CMake, Maven, Gradle, Nix, Buck**) - **DevOps & DevInfra:** Passion for DevOps/DevInfra with expertise in **Linux/Unix** and cloud infrastructure (**AWS, Azure, GCP, OpenShift, Oracle Cloud**). **Terraform** is a plus - **Technical proficiency:** Programming experience in **Java**; **C++** and **Rust** are a plus - **Asynchronous programming:** Experience building scalable architectures with async patterns - **Software at scale:** Proven experience delivering and operating software at scale - **Communication & conflict resolution:** Ability to resolve issues and communicate effectively across stakeholder types ### Benefits - Comprehensive **medical, dental, and vision** benefits - **401k bonus**, **parental leave**, and generous vacation - **Fully remote** team with in-person meetups several times per year at exciting destinations - Fun team events (e.g., chocolate/whisky/tea tastings, monthly games, escape rooms, and more)
