Initial focus: **Aging in Place**—helping aging parents stay safely independent while giving families peace of mind. Over time, the role may expand to other verticals such as **Things (Tile/connected trackers)** or **Pets**. --- **About the Job (Senior Software Engineer, II)** Life360 is hiring an **AI-Native Engineer**—a senior engineer who doesn’t just use AI tools, but thinks natively in them. You’ll design and build features for one of our most important and fastest-growing member segments: aging parents who want to stay safely connected with, and independent from, the families who care about them. You’ll also help evolve modern AI-native engineering workflows—from code and testing to standups, velocity, and team practices. **Full-stack experience is strongly preferred**. You should be comfortable moving between backend services and the mobile surfaces that expose them. **Stack (high level):** Spring Boot microservices, Java, Kafka & Kafka Streams; AWS cloud-native platform; iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin). **First-year success looks like:** - Shipping end-to-end features for the Aging in Place segment - Establishing at least one AI-native workflow the broader team adopts --- **What You’ll Do** - Ship end-to-end across the stack (backend services/APIs through iOS/Android surfaces) - Work with AI (Claude Code) as a first-class collaborator (agent orchestration for specs, results, and reviews) - Define and codify AI-native engineering practices for the Verticals team (playbooks the org can adopt) - Build across the full stack as needed—shipping polished, performant, reliable experiences to tens of millions of users - Collaborate with product managers and designers to solve complex user problems with scalable engineering - Contribute to architecture decisions, code reviews, and a culture of craft and continuous improvement - Participate in on-call rotation and incident response - Use agentic workflows to increase delivery speed without sacrificing quality - Mentor teammates and help evolve team AI-native practices - Support performance, reliability, and accessibility for features you own - Adapt Aging in Place patterns to future verticals (Things, Pets) as scope expands --- **What We’re Looking For** - 5+ years building and operating high-quality, consumer-scale services - 1+ years hands-on experience prompting, evaluating, and building with LLMs - Full-stack proficiency across backend services and mobile clien
