We celebrate diversity and foster an inclusive environment where our team-first culture enables innovation and growth. **Role Overview** We're seeking a highly experienced Site Reliability Engineer to design, implement, and support Kubernetes on baremetal and hypervisor platforms in a private cloud environment. This deeply technical role requires expert-level understanding of compute hardware management, Kubernetes, OpenStack, hypervisors, and Linux operating systems. **Key Responsibilities** • Lead architecture and design of enterprise compute and hypervisor platform solutions • Define standards and automation for bare metal provisioning and lifecycle management • Design and implement Bare Metal as a Service (BMaaS) capabilities • Architect Kubernetes platforms on bare metal with QoS and Affinity (ArgoCD) • Design automated deployments of Ubuntu and Harvester • Design and maintain PXE-based provisioning using Redfish APIs • Develop Infrastructure-as-Code using Ansible, Terraform, Helm, Python/Bash • Implement CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure updates and testing • Produce high-level and low-level design documentation • Perform deep troubleshooting across storage, Kubernetes, hypervisors, networking, and Linux • Participate in on-call escalation support **Minimum Qualifications** • 6+ years in infrastructure/platform engineering or DevOps • Proven experience designing bare metal compute environments at scale • Strong hands-on experience with PXE boot and automated server imaging • Experience with Bare Metal as a Service (BMaaS) platforms • Practical experience using Redfish APIs • Deep expertise with Ubuntu Linux in enterprise environments • Hands-on experience with KVM hypervisors (Suse Harvester, OpenStack) • Experience designing production-grade Kubernetes clusters • Background with enterprise compute hardware (Cisco UCS, Dell PowerEdge, Supermicro, HPE) • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible) • Experience building CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure automation • Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or similar • Excellent technical documentation and communication skills • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience **Preferred Qualifications** • OpenStack and Ubuntu KVM administration • CIS/NIST security and infrastructure lifecycle management • ITIL Foundation/advanced certifications • Background in telco, edge cloud, or large enterprise environments • Ubuntu Certifications, CKA, or CKS • Master's degree in computer science or related field **What You'll Get** • Collaborative team invested in infrastructure excellence • Complex technical challenges requiring creative solutions • Opportunity to shape a next-generation private cloud platform • Access to latest tools and upstream project developments **Work Location** Hybrid - 3 days/week (Tue, Wed, Thu) in San Ramon office required **Compensation & Benefits** US Base Salary: $90,700 – $252,200 USD • Health, dental, and vision coverage (100% employee portion covered) • Mental health support platform • Employee stock purchase plan • Paid Time Off, company holidays, paid volunteer hours, 12 weeks paid parental leave • 401(k) with employer matching • Short & Long-Term Disability and Life Insurance *Five9 is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion.*
