In this role, you’ll: - Identify issues and drive them to swift resolution - Use software engineering to design and build tools, automation, and processes for next-generation cloud operations - Improve **manageability, observability, and resiliency** of critical services - Help reduce **MTTx** so incidents are handled faster and smarter --- ## WHAT YOU’LL DO - Be part of the core operations team leveraging **AiOps** in the incident management process - Lead incidents as **Incident Commander** to drive rapid incident resolutions - Understand customer-impacting problems well enough to advocate for the best solution - Apply strong engineering practices (architectural design, testability, scalability, maintainability) and contribute to technical discussions - Build tools and processes to improve proactive monitoring/alerting, incident response, reduce toil, enhance documentation, increase observability coverage, and address technical debt - Collaborate across teams (IT Operations, Corporate Security, Public Cloud, Engineering) to ensure high availability of Box services - Participate in on-call rotation and drive improvements to incident response and system resilience --- ## WHO YOU ARE - 4+ years of professional software development experience in an OO or functional language (e.g., **Python**) - 2+ years experience with large-scale production operations or reliability engineering practices - Systems thinker who can break down ambiguous problems, propose pragmatic solutions, and measure outcomes - Experience with **Kubernetes** and **Public Cloud** (preferred: **GCP/AWS**) - Familiarity with observability/monitoring/alerting and querying/analyzing logs & metrics at scale (e.g., **Splunk, BigQuery, Prometheus/Chronosphere, Grafana, SignalFx**) - Strong analytical, planning, organizational, and documentation skills - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Information Systems or equivalent experience - Growth mindset; uses AI to make faster, smarter decisions - Infrastructure as Code (e.g., **Terraform**) and **CI/CD** are a plus - Experience leading incident response for production incidents is a plus --- ## WORK LOCATION / CULTURE Boxers are expected to work from their assigned office **at least 3 days per week**.
