## Senior Software Engineer (LATAM) — Remote ### Overview Wagmo is a modern pet healthcare company built around how pet parents actually care for their pets. We partner with employers to provide preventive wellness plans, emergency coverage, and 24/7 pet telehealth guidance. We’re hiring a **Senior Software Engineer** to take our AI-driven **claims automation** further. You’ll join the **Pet Parents squad** and own the system that reads invoices, decides what’s covered, and pays claims—so pet parents can get reimbursed without manual touch. **Location/Timing:** Remote role based in Latin America, with **at least 6 hours of overlap with US Eastern Time**. --- ### What You’ll Do - Learn and become a core owner of Wagmo’s **claims automation pipeline**, reviewing and shipping changes within your first few months. - **Reduce the cost per claim** by routing work to the right models while maintaining accuracy at or above current levels. - **Restructure the pipeline** so each stage can be changed, tested, and rolled out independently, with **evaluations gating every change**. - Ship new automation that resolves more claims without manual review, partnering with Product on what’s next. - Use AI to read **veterinary records** and improve coverage decisions across more claim types. --- ### Tech Stack - **Python**, **Django** - **TypeScript**, **React** - **LLM APIs** (OpenRouter) - **LangSmith** - **GitHub**, **Linear** - **Claude Code**, **CodeRabbit** --- ### What You’ll Need - Shipped an **LLM-powered feature** to production where real users or real money depend on it. - Set up **evaluations before rollout**, versioned prompts/models, and planned for **rollback**. - Designed or substantially refactored a business-critical system (e.g., payments/claims) without breaking it—and made it easier to change. - Taken over a complex system and become the trusted owner. - Strong code review habits (changing designs, not just style). - Made real **model cost vs. quality** tradeoffs with measurable results. - Uses coding agents and AI review tools to ship faster without lowering quality. - Strong **Python** skills; **Django** and **TypeScript** are a plus. --- ### Why Consider This Role? - Your work directly pays real claims to real pet parents—impact is visible in production. - AI is core to the product, not a side project. - You’ll own one of the most important systems at the company with real scope on a small team. - Help pet parents get reimbursed faster for the care their pets need. --- ### Key Benefits - Comprehensive health, vision, and dental coverage - HSA/FSA - 401(k) with employer matching - Unlimited paid time off - Annual company holidays - Additional company-wide recharge days off - **12 weeks parental leave** (eligible employees) - Company-paid Wagmo pet wellness and insurance plans - Regular company-wide events and team gatherings - Pet-friendly office - Catered lunches --- *Wagmo is an Equal Opportunity Employer.*
