## SAP Configuration Engineer **About the Role** Liberty Mutual’s Global Finance Technology organization is seeking an **SAP Configuration Engineer** to join the **OneGL** team, supporting **OneGL BAU, US2.2, and LII releases**. The primary focus is **SAP General Ledger**, with opportunities to learn and support additional SAP FICO areas such as **Fixed Assets (FA)** and **Reporting**, as well as related capabilities like **SAP Master Data Governance (MDG)**. You will analyze, develop, and configure enhancements and new business requirements for the SAP general ledger, support production users, and participate in configuration, testing, and training to maintain and improve the OneGL finance environment supporting the **financial month-end close**. **Key Responsibilities** - Map business requirements to SAP system capabilities to deliver functional and technical solutions. - Configure SAP General Ledger settings and options (e.g., **company codes, chart of accounts, ledgers, account determination, posting rules**). - Over time, support configuration in other FICO areas such as **FA** and **Reporting**. - Execute **unit and integration testing** and document functional/technical specifications. - Understand and support integrations related to the general ledger, including upstream source systems, subledger feeds, downstream reporting/consolidation, interfaces, data mappings, and reconciliation points. - Support monthly close by monitoring close activities, resolving production issues during close windows, and configuring period-end settings (e.g., **posting periods, accruals, foreign currency valuation, intercompany processing**). - Troubleshoot and resolve defects (posting errors, reconciliation breaks, close-blocking issues) and help identify root cause across integrated systems. - Create test scenarios/cases with product owners, execute end-to-end integration test cases, and document results. - Support post-implementation activities, cutover, and documentation. - Participate in discussions to optimize and streamline processes (including the close process). **Required / Preferred Qualifications** - Working understanding of financial transactional flow and SAP General Ledger concepts (e.g., **company codes, chart of accounts, ledgers, coding blocks, profit centers, cost centers, currencies**). - Familiarity with how data flows into/out of the general ledger (e.g., **subledger postings, interface files, reporting extracts**) and interest in learning supporting integrations. - Foundational understanding of month-end close processes (e.g., **accruals, foreign currency valuation, intercompany, reconciliation**), including willingness to support the close calendar (occasionally extended hours during peak periods). - Exposure to or interest in learning other SAP FICO areas (e.g., **Fixed Assets**) and financial reporting, plus **SAP MDG** concepts. - Strong communication, collaboration, analytical/problem-solving skills, and ability to work with ambiguous/incomplete information. - Working knowledge of **Agile** concepts (backlog tracking, scrum ceremonies, incremental delivery). - Growth mindset and desire to deepen expertise in SAP Finance configuration. **Education & Experience** - Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business discipline (or equivalent experience). - **2–3+ years** of technical/functional SAP Finance experience. - **1–2+ years** of hands-on SAP General Ledger configuration experience, including involvement in at least on
