Every team member is expected to leverage AI daily. ### About the role Lead the **Identity & Access Management Platform (IAM Platform)** team—the foundational layer that determines **who can see and do what** across ClickUp. This team owns: - **Authorization engine** and **permission/role model** - **Authentication**: SSO (SAML/OIDC), MFA/2FA, SCIM provisioning - **Sharing primitives** and **audit logs** - Core **data model and APIs** that define how customer work is organized across the product This is **backend-heavy, high-blast-radius** work. As ClickUp moves upmarket, enterprises rely on the precision, predictability, auditability, and manageability of our access controls. ### What you’ll do - **Lead and grow** the IAM Platform engineering team (hiring, mentorship, performance, career growth) - **Own delivery** of an enterprise-grade access management platform, including: - Authorization engine + permission/role model - Authentication (SSO, MFA/2FA, session/token management) - SCIM provisioning - Sharing + access-control primitives - Audit logs, OAuth, API token management - Core data model + APIs - Set **roadmap and priorities** with product, security, and engineering leadership - Run an **AI-native team**: structure work for agent routing/scoping/reporting; use AI flows to reduce noise and eliminate status meetings - Partner with **enterprise customers, GTM, and security** on identity/access requirements and represent ClickUp in security/architecture reviews - Ensure **operational excellence** for high-blast-radius services (on-call health, safe migrations, clear security boundaries) - Maintain a high engineering bar (design/code review, testing, performance, security-by-design) - Collaborate cross-functionally to ship coherent access experiences across backend, frontend, platform, product, design, and infosec ### Requirements - **8+ years** professional software engineering experience building production SaaS - **3+ years** managing engineering teams (including senior engineers) - **Identity & Access Management experience required**, hands-on with authentication/authorization systems such as: - OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, JWTs - MFA/2FA, enterprise SSO - SCIM - RBAC/permission and role models (ideally multi-tenant) - Proven ability to use **AI tools and agentic workflows** to reduce noise and streamline team operations - Experience delivering **enterprise-grade SaaS** at scale and working with enterprise security/compliance/admin requirements - Track record building/scaling high-performing engineering teams - Enough technical depth to lead architecture discussions and make sound trade-offs - Security-conscious mindset focused on correctness, auditability, and blast radius - Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration - Daily fluency with AI tools ### Preferred qualifications - Experience owning IAM/authorization at scale (millions of users, multi-tenant, workspace-scoped identity/token models) - Experience with configuration-driven/policy-based access models (RBAC/ABAC), authorization engines, or Zero Trust - Experience with SCIM provisioning, audit logging, and enterprise compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, etc.) - Track record moving a product upmarke
