Engineers work in an innovative environment with modern development practices, cloud-native technologies, and a customer-obsessed mindset. ### The Role Join the **Integrations & Onboarding** team as a **Staff Back-End Engineer**. You will set the technical direction for the platform retailers use to integrate with Signifyd. You’ll own the architecture and long-term health of our **public-facing API platform and ingestion services**, defining both what we build and how we build it. ### Responsibilities - Define and deliver the **multi-year technical vision** for the integration and ingestion platform across multiple teams and constraints. - Make architecture-level technology calls (e.g., **build vs. buy**, framework selection) and own the tradeoffs. - Own overall platform health and engineering quality: health reviews, testing strategy, and long-term maintainability. - Design systems under significant ambiguity—especially those depended on by many other systems. - Partner with Product Management, Data Engineering, and other engineering teams to influence roadmaps toward shared solutions. - Raise the technical bar through design/code reviews, with focus on cross-team interfaces and **API quality**. - Identify technical debt proactively and drive strategy to address it. - Mentor and serve as a role model across the organization; champion responsible adoption of AI development tools. ### Requirements - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience. - Significant experience in modern software development, including **functional-style programming**. - Proven track record setting technical direction across multiple teams and delivering large, ambiguous initiatives. - Depth in a platform/product domain that translates into distinctive business value. - Strong software design and architecture skills (simplifying complex problems; designing interfaces that are hard to misuse). - Experience owning long-term system health (testing strategy, operability, reducing key-person dependency). - Experience building distributed systems and/or public-facing/platform APIs at scale. - Experience with cloud platforms such as **AWS or GCP**. - Ability to influence without authority; communicate effectively with engineers and non-engineers. - Fluency with modern AI development tools, including: - providing effective context, - critically evaluating generated code for correctness, security, and maintainability, - coaching others to the same standard. ### Our Stack Java, SQL, gRPC, HTTP/REST Kubernetes, Docker, Linux Cassandra, Pub/Sub, Bigtable, Databricks GCP, AWS ### Benefits (US Offices) - Discretionary Time Off Policy (Unlimited!) - 401K Match - Stock Options - Annual Performance Bonus or Commissions - Paid Parental Leave (12 weeks) - On-Demand Therapy for all employees & dependents - Dedicated learning budget through Learnerbly - Health Insurance, Dental Insura
