About this role
## Applied AI Engineer ### About the Role We’re hiring an **Applied AI Engineer** to serve as a **technical anchor** for a leading fintech company’s AI Team in the **United States**. You’ll lead two primary streams: - **AI Coding tooling & developer experience**: Bring the engineering depth of Silicon Valley front-line teams (e.g., *Claude Code, Cursor, Devin, Replit Agent*) into **ByLabs**. - **AI application paradigm exploration & dogfooding**: Build small, frontier prototypes in internal scenarios that validate **streaming UX**, **transparent agent steps**, **long-context memory**, and other emerging patterns—then propagate them through **reference code**, **blog posts**, and **workshops**. This role is about **craft and taste**—you’re not a platform architect or a delivery engineer; you turn real product engineering experience into **multiplicative leverage** for the whole AI team. --- ### Responsibilities - **Introduce AI coding tooling best practices** - Bring engineering depth from tools like Claude Code, Cursor, Devin, Replit Agent (Skills, hooks, subagents, long-context engineering, **MCP integration**) - Produce **engineer onboarding playbooks** and **advanced-usage standards** - **Set the bar for the Skill Marketplace** - Define **Skill design conventions** - Personally deliver **5–10 reference-quality Skills** as exemplars - Raise team-wide Skill engineering quality through **PR review** - **Prototype an AI-native engineering workflow** - Reimagine the lifecycle: **spec → design → implementation → review → testing → release → operations** around AI tools - Produce a reference workflow APAC teams can adopt - **Build internal AI application prototypes** (employee-facing scenarios) - In contexts like **OpenClaw**, **A2UI**, role-bound AI assistants, and similar - Validate streaming UX, transparent agent steps, long-context memory, multi-agent collaboration, and emerging patterns - **Provide reference architecture code** - Deliver runnable “**this is how Silicon Valley does it**” reference implementations (working code, not just docs) - **Cross-team craft propagation** - 1 internal tech talk per month - 1 in-depth blog per quarter - 1 onsite workshop in APAC per half year - **Participate in architecture reviews** - As the U.S. anchor, provide frontier perspective and taste-based feedback at the application layer --- ### Major Requirements - **Education**: Top-tier **CS/EE BS** or above; **MS preferred** - **Experience**: **6+ years** software engineering; at least **2 years** focused on **LLM applications** - **Senior AI application engineering** - Shipped AI applications **0 → 1 in production** (not demos) - At least one tour as a core engineer at a top-tier Silicon Valley AI company or leading AI product team (e.g., **Anthropic, OpenAI, Meta**, etc.) - **Deep AI coding tooling fluency** - Daily-driver experience with **Claude Code, Cursor, Devin, or Replit Agent** (at least one) - Ability to articulate engineering implementation - Strong understanding of tradeoffs in **Skills, hooks, subagents, MCP, long-context engineering** - **Agent application engineering depth** - Solid grasp of **ReAct, Plan-Execute, Reflection, Multi-Agent, Orchestrator-Worker** tradeoffs - Hands-on experience with **LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI, OpenAI Swarm**, or in-house frameworks - **Strong full-stack engineering** - Backend: **Go / Python / TypeScript** - Frontend: **React / Next.js** (mid-l
