**Technical Support Engineer (L1/Frontline Support), EU** **About the role** You’ll be the first point of contact for customer issues during EU hours. You’ll resolve common, well-documented cases, understand and triage problems, and escalate more complex issues to senior support or engineering with clear reproduction steps and context. **Responsibilities** - Act as the first point of contact for customer support inquiries, resolving common issues related to API usage, onboarding, authentication, integration, and billing. - Escalate issues to L2/L3 support or engineering while maintaining accurate ticket status, reproduction steps, and logs. - Identify recurring questions and help improve documentation, FAQs, and onboarding materials. - Write technical content occasionally (tutorials, how-to guides, blog posts) to help developers use our APIs effectively. - Help manage and grow online developer communities (Slack, Reddit, etc.) by answering questions and surfacing feedback. **What we typically look for** - Prior experience with Databento’s API is strongly preferred, plus familiarity with financial trading and/or market data. - At least 2 years of experience in technical support, QA, or engineering. - Working proficiency in Python. - Troubleshooting tools experience is a plus (e.g., Wireshark, tcpdump, ss, nc, telnet, strace, gdb, perf, eBPF, lsof, curl, xxd, jq, SQL). - Observability tools experience is a plus (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, Sentry). - Strong technical communication skills; DevRel experience is a plus (e.g., managing Discord communities, writing technical content, podcasts/videos). - Experience at an early-stage startup is a plus. - Based in the EU region to provide support coverage during business hours. **Benefits & compensation** - Health, dental, disability, and life insurance benefits; 401(k) matching for full-time employees. - 100% remote work; teammates live globally and are paid in local currency. - Base salary range: **$65,000–$150,000** (benchmarked to Tier 1 locations).
