Their trusted intelligent document management platform includes the industry’s first and only legal context graph, connecting matters, documents, people, and knowledge with enterprise-grade security, governance, permissions, and ethical walls. **What You’ll Do (Senior Manager, Software Engineering – AI)** Lead and scale NetDocuments’ AI Search engineering team to build next-generation intelligent search capabilities for legal professionals. Your team owns: - Embedding models - Indexing pipelines powering semantic search - Platform-layer capabilities that enable semantic experiences across the NetDocuments ecosystem You’ll drive the engineering vision, mentor engineering leaders, and balance innovation with operational rigor. This role reports to the Director of Engineering, AI and partners closely with Product, Architecture, and Data Science. **Key Responsibilities** - **Drive strategy & execution:** Shape and execute the long-term AI Search engineering strategy (embedding quality, indexing reliability, semantic relevance across verticals). - **Deliver enterprise-grade capabilities:** Translate customer needs into scalable, production-ready search experiences; oversee delivery across multiple teams. - **Lead & develop teams:** Manage and mentor engineers and technical staff; guide hiring, performance management, and career development. - **Cross-functional collaboration:** Partner with vertical product/engineering teams; serve as technical point of contact for AI Search tradeoffs (relevance, latency, model selection). - **Technical leadership & oversight:** Guide best practices for model lifecycle management, indexing pipeline design, relevance evaluation, and scalable architecture. - **Security, compliance, and responsible AI:** Ensure solutions meet compliance, performance, privacy, and data residency standards; promote responsible experimentation. - **Culture & innovation:** Foster a growth mindset, continuous learning, experimentation, and knowledge sharing. **What You’ll Need to Be Successful** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (advanced degree preferred) - 7+ years software engineering experience, including 3+ years in engineering management - Demonstrated success managing multiple teams (e.g., ~7+ engineers/leaders) - Proven ability to define and execute a technical vision aligned with business strategy - Experience leading distributed, cloud-based development (Azure or AWS) - Familiarity with ML model deployment and lifecycle management (embedding/NLP models) - Experience building/owning data pipelines at scale (indexing, transformation, ETL) - Strong engineering practices (CI/CD, microservices, scalable architectures) - Excellent stakeholder management and executive communication **What Will Make You Stand Out** - Hands-on semantic search / dense vector retrieval (embedding model selection, hybrid search) - Experience with Elasticsearch or OpenSearch - Familiarity with RAG pipelines and how search quality impacts downstream LLM applications - Background in information retrieval and/or NLP - Experience adapting shared platform capabilities across multiple verticals/customer segments - Track record of building high-performing, engaged teams **Compensation & Benefits** -
