Alpaca is backed by **$400M** in funding from top-tier global investors. ## Your Role As a **Senior Software Engineer (Payments)**, you’ll help build and scale the systems and services that form the foundation of Alpaca and empower millions of users trading billions of dollars’ worth of assets daily. The **Payments team** builds and maintains a modern global payments and treasury platform. Because money movement is critical, we use highly scalable, event-driven systems with strong resilience, technical/operational scalability, and system integrity. You’ll also help drive ambitious plans to build a seamlessly integrated, comprehensive treasury platform as part of Alpaca’s end-to-end financial infrastructure on a global scale. ## Who You Are (Must-Haves) - Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset - Excellent communication and collaboration skills - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Preference for simple and elegant solutions - At least **3 years** building systems at scale - Proven experience building and maintaining **microservices** - Experience with **client-facing APIs** - Strong coding skills (preferably **Go**) - Ability to write clean, well-tested, maintainable code - Experience with **domain-driven design** and **event-driven design** - Ability to debug issues and foresee problems to avoid them - Familiarity with **containerization** and orchestration (especially **Kubernetes**) - Experience with cloud platforms (preferably **Google Cloud Platform**) - Experience with **messaging queues / message brokers** - Experience with **relational databases** (preferably **PostgreSQL**) - Experience with **distributed systems design** - Experience with payment rails and the payment lifecycle - Experience with **double-entry accounting** and financial ledgers ## Who You Might Be (Nice-to-Haves) - Experience in the financial industry or knowledge of payments initiation - Experience with financial reconciliation systems - Understanding of **ISO 20022** - Experience working remotely - Experience working at a startup, exchange, brokerage, market maker, or hedge fund - DevOps mindset ## How We Take Care of You - Competitive salary and stock options - Health benefits - New hire home-office setup: **$500 (one-time)** - Monthly stipend: **$150/month** via a Brex Card Alpaca is an equal opportunity workplace committed to pursuing and hiring a diverse workforce.
