DoorDash does not support J-1 visas for this role. **You’ll be excited about this opportunity because you will…** - Design and implement improvements to real-time on-demand dispatching algorithms - Analyze delivery data at the lowest level of detail; perform cutting-edge research and explore new workstreams - Collaborate across engineering, data science, product, and business teams to build cross-cutting, scalable solutions - Receive actionable feedback from your mentor and team - Connect with colleagues through company events (e.g., Lunch & Learns, game nights, movie nights, intern offsites) **We’re excited about you because…** - You’re a **PhD student** in operations research, industrial engineering, computer science, or related field, graduating **between Fall 2027 and Summer 2028** - Experience with complex optimization via mathematical programming and/or metaheuristics - Strong programming fundamentals, OOP/functional programming experience, and solid algorithms knowledge - Excited to analyze, iterate, and contribute to real-time dispatch systems - Experience developing algorithms for logistics problems, especially **VRP** and **real-time dispatching** - Familiarity with mathematical programming tools (e.g., **CPLEX, Gurobi, Coin-OR, Xpress**) - Production experience with a **JVM-based language** (Java/Kotlin/Scala) - Experience with the software development lifecycle (clean code, version control, unit testing, etc.) - Production experience building modern web applications at scale - Experience with statistical analysis and machine learning algorithms - Proficient in **SQL** and a visualization tool (e.g., Tableau, Chartio, Mode) **Compensation (U.S. base pay range)** **$130,600 — $192,000 USD** (base salary localized by work location) **About DoorDash** DoorDash’s mission empowers local economies.
