Founded by former executives from Google, Coinbase, Flipkart, and Okta, and backed by leading investors, Ema is headquartered in Silicon Valley with offices in London, Bangalore, and Vancouver. --- ## Who You Are You’re an innovative, passionate **Machine Learning Engineer** who enjoys solving complex problems with **large datasets** and turning theoretical ideas into **practical, scalable systems**. You’re excited to work on **Agentic AI in production**, especially in **Natural Language Processing**, **Information Retrieval**, and related areas. --- ## What You’ll Do - Conceptualize, develop, and deploy ML models powering **NLP, retrieval, ranking, reasoning, dialog, and code-generation** systems. - Implement advanced ML methods such as **Transformer-based models**, **reinforcement learning**, **ensemble learning**, and **agent-based systems**. - Process and analyze large datasets (structured, semi-structured, unstructured) to inform model development. - Own the full ML lifecycle: **problem definition, data exploration, feature engineering, training, validation, and deployment**. - Use **A/B testing** and statistical methods to validate model effectiveness. - Build automated testing/validation to ensure robustness and integrity. - Communicate technical details and benefits to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. --- ## Minimum Qualifications - **Master’s degree or Ph.D.** in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related quantitative field. - **2+ years** of industry experience building and deploying **production ML models**. - Strong practical experience with **NLP** and frameworks for training/inference of **large language models**. - Deep understanding of **retrieval, ranking, reinforcement learning, and/or agent-based systems** for large-scale systems. - Proficiency in **Python** and experience with **TensorFlow or PyTorch**. --- ## Ideally, You’d Have - Strong data processing skills (e.g., **SQL, ETL, data warehousing**) and experience with large-scale data systems. - Experience with **MLOps** and ML lifecycle management tools. - Familiarity with **GCP or Azure**. - Awareness of current industry/academic ML & AI trends and ability to apply them practically. - Solid software engineering fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, development principles). - Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail, and logical thinking. - Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment. --- ## Compensation (California Based Candidates) Base salary: **$160,000 to $220,000 annually**. Final compensation depends on factors like location, level, and experience.
