**Senior Software Engineer, API & Automation** At Formlabs, we’re building tools that help people bring ideas to life—from cutting-edge products to life-saving medical devices. Our 3D printing technology powers innovation at more than 50,000 industry leaders worldwide, including Apple, Google, Tesla, New Balance, and NASA. Our Software team develops a developer-friendly platform that enables programmatic access to PreForm and Formlabs printers. We build APIs, SDKs, and automation tools so customers and partners can integrate their applications and workflows with the Formlabs ecosystem—spanning desktop applications, embedded devices, networking, and cloud services. As a Software Engineer on the API & Automation team, you’ll solve problems where reliability, usability, and system design are equally important—building software that ultimately controls physical manufacturing processes. --- ## The Job - Design and build production APIs and SDKs for interacting with Formlabs software, printers, and manufacturing workflows - Build reliable automation systems that enable customers to integrate print preparation and Formlabs printers into their software and workflows - Ship value-generating features by building and evolving reliable, easy-to-use APIs - Work with Product Management teams and external developers to solve complex problems and shape the long-term technical direction --- ## You - Have experience building APIs, SDKs, or other developer-facing software - Have a strong foundation in software architecture, data structures, object-oriented design, and cloud services - Enjoy tackling ambiguous, technically challenging problems across multiple systems - Are comfortable working across system boundaries and debugging complex interactions between components - Are interested in the interaction between software and physical devices - Are highly user-focused and motivated by building software that makes a real difference - Take ownership, have a bias toward action, and are comfortable making decisions to move work forward - Can collaborate effectively with engineers and technical teams across different disciplines --- ## Bonus Skills - Experience designing or working with APIs using technologies such as REST, gRPC, OpenAPI, or AsyncAPI
