**Elastic — Senior Software Engineer (IAM / Control Plane / Platform)** **About the role** Elastic’s Platform Control Plane team is looking for creative, passionate engineers to evolve and operate control plane services (Self-Managed, Hosted, and Serverless) and accelerate adoption of Kubernetes. These distributed services form the orchestration layer of Elastic Cloud, enabling users to build new Elastic Clusters or expand existing ones. You’ll work across multiple cloud providers and technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, Go/Scala/Java, and custom orchestration architectures. Day to day, you’ll code, design, build solutions, debug complex failure scenarios, and prioritize security, bug fixes, and features. You’ll analyze current system strengths/limitations and propose refactors to improve operations and service quality. You’ll also participate in an on-call rotation to respond to operational events. **What you will be doing** - Contribute to the development and evolution of the IAM codebases powering Elastic Cloud offerings - Participate in on-call rotation and solve production incidents - Collaborate with Support engineers to resolve customer problems - Proactively improve services for security, stability, and reliability - Design, build, and maintain software supporting cloud offerings and on-prem services - Debug production technical issues involving distributed systems, virtualization, containers, and microservices **What you bring** - A record of delivering high-quality software to Production - Solid experience with JVM-based programming languages - 3+ years as a backend engineer in the IAM space **or** 5+ years as a backend engineer - Deep passion for automation and raising the quality bar - Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills - Proven ability to use AI to accelerate development, debug complex systems, and optimize code—while owning final outcomes
