Junior Software Engineer (SQL)
Radicle Health · Remote
About this role
**Junior Software Engineer (SQL)** **About Radicle Health** Radicle Health builds mission-driven human services software that helps organizations better serve their communities. Under one roof, teams collaborate, test ideas faster, and think holistically about the people and communities they support. **About the Role** As a Software Engineer, you’ll build and ship well-defined features and bug fixes across the full stack, with a focus on the data layer—designing, writing, and tuning **SQL Server** queries and **stored procedures** that power **.NET Core APIs** and **React** user interfaces. You’ll work closely with experienced engineers who guide your approach and design while you grow into greater ownership over time. Because this is healthcare/human services data, you’ll follow **HIPAA and data-handling guidelines**, including using **mocked or anonymized data** (not real customer PHI) for development and testing—even when using AI-assisted tools. --- ## What You’ll Do - Build and ship features and bug fixes across the full stack, with a focus on **SQL Server** (T-SQL, stored procedures, performance tuning) - Follow best practices for **code quality**, **testing**, and development workflows (source control + deployment) - Take ownership by quickly identifying and addressing bugs, regressions, slow queries, and open questions - Collaborate through thoughtful PR reviews, technical discussions, and asking for help early when blocked - Protect sensitive data (PHI) using mocked/anonymized data in dev/test, including with AI tools - Learn products, customers, and the Health & Human Services domain, progressing toward independent delivery --- ## What You Bring - **1–3 years** of software development experience (professional, internship, academic, or personal projects) - **BS degree** (or equivalent experience/certifications) - Working knowledge of **SQL Server**: T-SQL, joins, stored procedures, indexes, and reading execution plans - Working knowledge of **C# / .NET Core** (building or consuming REST APIs) - Understanding of full-stack data flow: **SQL Server → .NET Core API → React** - Foundational understanding of **data structures and algorithms** - Basic understanding of **source control** (e.g., Git) and deployment tools - Track record contributing to delivery of a feature/project and clearly describing your role - Ownership and accountability for quality - Collaborative mindset with engineers, product managers, and QA - Understanding of the responsibility of building healthcare software and protecting **PHI** --- ## Helpful, but Not Required - React, JavaScript, HTML/CSS - Database design/normalization, query performance tuning, schema changes/migrations - Fluent UI - AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot) --- ## What Success Looks Like - Early: learn the products, codebase, tools, and process; reliably deliver well-defined features/bug fixes; participate in code reviews; follow code quality + data-handling practices - As you grow: need less direction; independently work across SQL Server, .NET Core, and React; catch issues (regressions/slow queries) early; bring clear questions when you need support - Success is measured by understanding what you build and why, performance once shipped, and dependable communication/collaboration—especially with sensitive data --- ## Why This Role - Your work supports reliable software used by organizations serving communities every day - Hands-on full-stack experience
