By combining powerful analytics with AI that knows your business, Mixpanel helps teams see what’s working, diagnose what’s not, and decide what to build next. **About the Team** You’ll join a team that owns products that help teams test, ship, and observe what they build: - **Experiments**: Controlled experiments using the same behavioral data customers already analyze - **Feature Flags**: Safe, gradual rollouts targeted by real user behavior (powered by a high-throughput evaluation service) - **Session Replay & Heatmaps**: How real people experience a product across web and mobile **About the Role** As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll own the technical design and delivery of features across Experiments, Feature Flags, Session Replay, and Heatmaps. You’ll work full-stack—from **React** frontend experiences to **Python** backend services and high-throughput systems (flag evaluation and replay ingestion). You’ll partner with **Product** and **Design**, and collaborate with teams like **AI Engine** and **Product Platform** on shared systems and SDKs. **Responsibilities** - Own end-to-end technical design for complex features (backend services, data models, and frontend) - Make well-reasoned technical decisions balancing speed, quality, cost, and product needs - Drive reliability, observability, and operational excellence; address tech debt early - Partner with **AI Engine** to bring AI into how customers design, run, and understand experiments and replays - Collaborate on **SDKs**, shared infrastructure, and architectural decisions - Mentor engineers via code reviews, pairing, and 1:1 support - Serve as an escalation point for complex bugs and on-call incidents - Work with **Support** and **Solutions Engineering** on customer escalations and technical questions - Partner with Product and Design to identify and lead future work beyond the roadmap **We’re Looking For Someone Who Has** - Bachelor’s degree in CS/Math (or related) or equivalent practical experience - **5+ years** of professional software engineering experience delivering quality solutions quickly - Experience building and operating production systems end to end with real ownership of reliability and correctness - Expert depth in at least one area (systems, web, or data infrastructure) with broad full-stack understanding - Experience owning technical design for complex projects and managing multiple concurrent workstreams - Strong cross-functional collaboration with minimal guidance - Sound judgment on priorities, technologies, and tradeoffs - Track record mentoring engineers and contributing to team growth - Strong technical communication (ideally in asynchronous remote environments) - Desire to help teams build and decide faster in the AI era **Bonus Points For** - React / TypeScript - Django / Python - Experience with experimentation, feature flagging, or session replay (as a builder or heavy user) - Building high-throughput, low-latency services - Familiarity with analytics or observability platforms - Building with LLMs, AI agents, or tool-use frameworks - Comfort using AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor) **Benefits and Perks** - Comprehensive Medical, Vision, and Dental Care - Mental Wellness Benefit - Generous Vacation Policy + Add
