**Software Engineer II - Control Plane (Hosted Foundations / Applications)** **What is The Role** As a Software Engineer on our Control Plane - Hosted team, you’ll be responsible for technical design and work in key functional areas of Elastic’s Cloud offerings. You’ll code, craft solutions, debug sophisticated failure scenarios, and prioritize bug fixes and features—analyzing the current system, its strengths, and limitations. **What You Will Be Doing** - Guide cross-team technical designs and help create a team-wide high level architecture - Lead best practices for development, ensuring a reliable, scalable foundation and an engaging user experience for customers - Contribute and lead technical plans and direction within your team and across other product teams at Elastic - Be part of a distributed team of engineers across the globe - Collaborate with other teams within Elastic (e.g., helping Support diagnose problems or advising Elasticsearch engineers on new feature design) **What You Bring** - 5+ years of experience as a software engineer, with a track record of delivering high-quality code - Previous experience providing pragmatic technical leadership for a group of engineers - Knowledge of back-end languages such as Scala, Java, or Go - Technical depth in one or more technologies relevant for SaaS (orchestration, networking, containers, etc.) - Passion for automation and quality **Compensation (Summary)** Compensation for this role is base salary only (no variable compensation component). This role may also be eligible to participate in Elastic’s stock program, and the total rewards package includes a company-matched 401(k).
