About this role
**Latitude AI — Software Engineer II (Offboard Python Application)** Latitude AI (lat.ai) is building the future of Ford’s autonomy roadmap to make travel safer, less stressful, and more enjoyable for everyone. You’ll join a team working on a fully in-house hands-free ADAS platform, with a planned debut on the all-new Ford Fathom in 2027. **Meet the team: Virtual Test Ecosystem (VTE)** The VTE team ensures our simulation (fully synthetic) and resimulation (replay engine using vehicle logs) workflows run efficiently and reliably at large scale. We use a mix of open source and cloud provider services to build a cloud-agnostic processing framework capable of running on-prem. Simulation results are business-critical—enabling large-scale safety and performance testing of changes prior to in-vehicle testing. **What you’ll do** - Run vehicle simulations at unprecedented scales by improving our sim/resim cloud framework and the applications that run on it. - Write and maintain Python code, integrate open-source packages, and work with AWS/GCP services. - Build benchmarking and dashboards to identify bottlenecks and implement solutions to improve scalability and performance. - Help make the framework intuitive and easy to use. - Engage with users across autonomy, systems, and test teams to understand needs, reduce misuse/misinterpretation, and drive future improvements. - Improve documentation and self-serve extensibility. - Enable other teams to extend the framework (e.g., updating resim to add new autonomy stack components) so they can iterate quickly. - Contribute to the log ecosystem. - Help define what logs are “interesting,” automate indexing of actors/interactions in scenes, and determine dataset coverage. - Turn resimulation outputs into actionable metrics. - Support metrics ranging from low-level detector performance to high-level business objectives. - Work on the sim/resim cloud framework so developers can add metrics easily. **What you’ll need to succeed** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related field **and 4+ years** relevant experience (or Master’s + 2+ years, or PhD) - Strong Python skills: efficient, well-documented, well-tested code - 2+ years building scalable applications for cloud or HPC environments - 2+ years building software that interacts with **AWS and/or GCP** - Familiarity with NumPy and scientific programming - Interest in understanding how onboard and offboard components interact and proposing improvements to how developers/testers work **Nice to have (optional)** - C++ experience - Kubernetes experience **What we offer** - Competitive compensation packages - High-quality medical, dental, and vision insurance (individual and family) - Health savings account (with employer match) - Employer-matched 401(k) with immediate vesting - Employer-paid group term life insurance + option for voluntary life - Paid parental leave and Adoption/Surrogacy support - Paid medical leave - Unlimited vacation and 15 paid holidays - Daily lunches/snacks/beverages in office locations - Pre-tax spending accounts (healthcare/dependent care) and pre-tax commuter benefits - Monthly wellness stipend - Backup child and elder care program - Professional development reimbursement - Employee assistance program - Discounted programs (including legal services, identity theft protection, pet insurance, and more) - Company/team bonding outlets (ERGs, quarterly team
