Software Engineer, Reliability Platform
DoorDash USA · San Francisco, CA; Sunnyvale, CA; Seattle, WA; New York City, NY
About this role
**Software Engineer, Reliability Platform** ## About the Team The Reliability Platform team builds the systems that help engineering groups own the reliability of their services—without needing to become reliability experts. The team enables engineers to define and measure Service Level Objectives (SLOs), surface insights to speed up investigations, and drive incidents from declaration through root-cause analysis (RCA) and postmortems. By detecting problems earlier, mitigating faster, and following up rigorously, engineers can ship rapidly with confidence—helping ensure the best experience for DoorDash consumers, merchants, and Dashers. The team’s long-term vision is to operationalize a flywheel of reliability data and insights to continually raise the bar across DoorDash’s global engineering organization. ## About the Role As a Software Engineer on Reliability Platform, you’ll design, build, and operate software and infrastructure that deliver on the team’s mission and vision—working closely with expert peers across Infrastructure and Product. You’ll work on mission-critical back-end services and pipelines, complex orchestration workflows, self-service platform capabilities, and agentic intelligence. The team is also exploring the promise of agentic AI to reshape and supercharge how they serve users and stakeholders—while staying pragmatic and focused on delivering positive business-value outcomes. ### Examples of what the team does - Own and drive unification of incident management process and tooling globally across DoorDash-owned brands - Create the framework to measure SLO compliance and quality across tens of thousands of endpoints, and derive insights that keep engineering teams informed and accountable - Build the internal SRE Agent used in incidents, supporting team/domain knowledge bases and reducing reliance on legacy runbooks - Set up MCP for agentic use of Reliability Platform data + tools, enabling other Core Infra teams to follow suit ## You’ll Be Excited Because You Will… - **Deliver Innovative Capabilities:** Contribute to strategic thinking and continuous improvement—not just execute tasks - **Be Customer Obsessed:** Learn from internal customers and influence areas where you have expertise - **Hold a High Quality Bar:** Develop, build, test, and ship at high velocity without sacrificing quality - **Automate Everything:** Reduce toil by obviating it or automating it away from humans - **Shape the Future of Operations:** Experiment with agentic AI workflows that can propose, validate, and safely execute production changes—moving toward proactive, self-healing systems ## We’re Excited About You Because You Have… - **Platform Engineering Mindset:** Think in APIs, abstractions, and workflows; build systems other engineers rely on daily - **Proven Experience:** 2+ years in infrastructure, platform, or backend engineering delivering and maintaining complex systems - **Backend Development Skills:** Fluent in Go (or a similar language); build scalable, resilient, performant, efficient mission-critical services - **Cloud/Infra Expertise:** Comfortable with AWS primitives, security best practices, containerization, and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform or Pulumi) - **SRE Experience:** Understand SLOs, error budgets, and incident response (even though this is a platform development team, not an oncall SRE team) - **AI Alignment:** Use AI tools to be more productive and capable (coding, planning, supporting peers, etc
