The **Backend Platform** team builds the shared foundations that make this possible. We’re looking for an **Engineering Manager** to lead the team shaping how backend software is built at Harvey. Your team owns the frameworks, libraries, and core abstractions product engineers use every day—from **database access and caching** to **request handling, observability, and safe context propagation**. Strong abstractions accelerate product teams and prevent entire classes of production failures. This is a technical leadership role with room to shape both the platform and the team: you’ll hire and develop exceptional engineers, set technical direction, and stay close to architecture and code. **What You’ll Do** - Lead and grow the **Backend Platform** team: hire, coach, and retain exceptional engineers with clear ownership and meaningful technical challenges. - Define the platform’s **technical vision and roadmap**, partnering with product engineering teams to identify high-impact investments. - Build the next generation of Harvey’s **backend foundations**, guiding shared design and reusable building blocks. *If you enjoy turning hard, recurring problems into simple tools that make everyone around you more effective, we’d love to hear from you.*
