**Elastic — Software Engineer II (Networking) | Platform Infra** **What is The Role** In this role, you’ll help shape the future of application networking solutions within Elastic Cloud. You’ll focus on areas like **Ingress**, **security controls**, **private connectivity**, and **DNS management**—ensuring interactions with **Elasticsearch**, **Kibana**, and the broader Elastic stack are both **proficient and secure**. You’ll collaborate with multiple engineering teams, solve challenging scalability problems, and improve platform performance while laying groundwork for future infrastructure innovations. **What You Will Be Doing** - Design and implement scalable, robust application networking features to enhance performance. - Integrate security controls into networking solutions to ensure safe interactions. - Refactor existing code to improve functionality and maintainability, leveraging AI tools to boost productivity. - Analyze performance metrics to identify networking bottlenecks. - Conduct load testing to assess scalability; optimize for response times and resource efficiency. - Implement performance monitoring tools and collaborate cross-functionally to meet networking needs. - Identify and resolve application networking issues; perform root cause analysis for network incidents. - Document troubleshooting processes and develop tools to trace and fix networking-related errors. - Collaborate with Elastic engineering teams to understand and fulfill Application Networking requirements. **What You Bring** - Hands-on experience developing software in **Golang**, especially networking components that scale. - Experience with **Kubernetes** (e.g., Cilium, external-dns, Envoy Gateway, Crossplane) is a plus. - Knowledge of at least one major cloud provider (**AWS, Azure, or GCP**) and its networking ecosystem. - Proficiency using **AI tools** to improve code functionality and maintainability. - Experience promoting best practices in application networking through knowledge sharing. - Care about quality: **testing, observability, and operability**. - Curiosity about **distributed systems** and service communication at scale. - A collaborative mindset: welcome feedback, share context, and learn with teammates.
