About this role
## Forward Deployed Robotics Engineer ### About the role Eka Robotics is building intelligence for the physical world—robots that are fast, general, and reliable. As a **Forward Deployed Robotics Engineer**, you’ll be the **primary on-site technical expert** for our robotic manipulation systems. You’ll support **robot deployments and product demos globally**, and when issues arise, you’ll be the first responder—**triaging field tickets, reproducing problems, collecting diagnostics, and driving root-cause resolution** to maximize fleet uptime. You’ll also focus heavily on **process improvement** and **clear communication**, eventually operating **independently on client sites**. --- ### Responsibilities - **Deployment & Bring-Up:** Build, deploy, configure, and troubleshoot robotic arms, grippers, and camera systems on-site. Perform **spatial/hand-eye calibrations** and **camera alignment**. - **Fleet Issue Triage:** Manage incoming fleet ticket queues, prioritize by operational impact, and triage failures across **hardware, software, and operational** layers. - **On-Site Diagnostics & Failure Analysis:** Conduct physical inspections, run diagnostic tests at robot stations, and perform **Root Cause Analysis (RCA)** to isolate and reproduce field failures. - **Telemetry & Data Analysis:** Analyze telemetry, sensor streams, and system logs to validate diagnostic hypotheses. - **Cross-Team Feedback Loop:** Partner with core hardware and software R&D teams; escalate complex issues and advise software engineering on tooling/scripts/diagnostic features to streamline field bring-up. - **Process Improvement:** Create standard diagnostic procedures, troubleshooting flowcharts, and operational guides. Surface recurring fleet issues to drive design improvements. - **Documentation:** Produce clear deployment documentation and procedures for third-party integrators. Maintain traceable logs for diagnostic events, field modifications, and escalation workflows. - **Field Operations:** Travel **50%+** to lead on-site deployments, customer demonstrations, and operational support. --- ### Minimum Qualifications - **B.S.** in Robotics, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. - **2+ years** hands-on experience debugging/troubleshooting and performing **root-cause analysis** on complex integrated hardware/software systems in deployment. - Practical experience parsing logs and writing basic diagnostic scripts in **Python**. - Strong understanding of interactions across **mechanical, electrical, firmware, and software** layers in robotic systems. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate technical issues during solo customer engagements and shift handoffs. --- ### Preferred Qualifications - **M.S.** in Robotics, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, or related technical field. - Experience deploying **learning-based control models** (e.g., imitation learning, RL, end-to-end vision-to-action) on physical manipulators in unstructured environments. - Proven track record building internal **Python tools**, CLI scripts, or automated calibration routines that reduce deployment/bring-up time. - Experience acting as the **sole technical lead** on customer sites or high-stakes field demos (communication, de-escalation, independent execution). - Hands-on experience integrating/configuring **6+ DoF** industrial/cobot arms (e.g., Univer
