## Principal Software Engineer — Parameters & Experimentation At Snowflake, we’re powering the era of the agentic enterprise. We’re looking for AI-native thinkers who are energized by reinventing how work gets done—using AI as a high-trust collaborator, moving with an experimental mindset, and building safer, faster innovation. ### About the team The **Parameters & Experimentation** team builds the configuration, feature-flagging, and experimentation infrastructure that enables Snowflake engineers to: - Introduce new capabilities - Control exposure - Measure outcomes ### What you’ll do - **Architect and build distributed infrastructure**: scalable configuration and feature-flag services with low-latency evaluation, clear consistency guarantees, fault isolation, and predictable failure behavior. - **Make safety scale with change velocity**: automated validation, targeted exposure, progressive rollouts, health-based guardrails, and dependable rollback—reducing manual coordination while improving observability, auditability, and recoverability. - **Advance experimentation**: build reliable assignment, exposure tracking, and measurement infrastructure in partnership with engineering and data science. - **Build and work AI-first**: embed AI-powered capabilities into configuration discovery, risk assessment, rollout planning, and impact analysis; establish evaluation, security, and reliability standards and drive adoption. - **Lead from architecture through adoption**: translate ambiguous needs into designs and milestones; deliver APIs/libraries/self-service tools; guide migrations and simplify the full lifecycle from flag creation to retirement. - **Raise the engineering bar**: write/review production code, diagnose complex failures, own operational outcomes, and mentor engineers. ### What you bring - **12+ years** of software engineering experience, including technical leadership across complex backend/infrastructure initiatives spanning multiple teams. - Deep experience with **large-scale distributed systems** (concurrency, consistency, caching, failure recovery, performance). - Strong CS fundamentals and hands-on proficiency in **Java, Go, C++, or a comparable backend language**, plus experience with **AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud**. - **AI-first engineering practice**: actively use AI across the software lifecycle and demonstrate how it improves execution, problem-solving, and quality. - Track record of turning ambiguous problems into delivered systems and driving adoption across organizations. - Clear written communication, low-ego collaboration, strong ownership, and experience mentoring senior engineers. - Degree in CS (or related) or equivalent practical experience. **Especially relevant experience:** feature-flag/configuration platforms, distributed control planes, progressive delivery, experimentation infrastructure, or AI-powered developer tools. ### Location & compensation For jobs located in the United States, please visit the job posting on the Snowflake Careers Site for salary and benefits information: **careers.snowflake.com** (http://careers.snowflake.com)
