This role focuses on using AI to give that time back. As a **Staff Forward Deployed Engineer**, you will: - Sit with a team, learn how the work actually gets done, and **ship tools they use every week** - Often turn a **6–8 hour task into under 30 minutes** - Stay until the team can run each tool independently - Convert what you learn into reusable **building blocks** that help the next team move faster Because Rula serves patients in mental health care, **privacy is designed in from day one**. --- ### Required Qualifications - **8+ years** shipping production-quality software systems (consumer or business) with **end-to-end ownership** of outcomes - Proven track record of shipping tools/products used **weekly by customers or business teams**, supported by **usage telemetry** - Deep experience learning operational workflows through **observation, interviews, or data** before designing solutions - Daily use of **coding agents** (specifying, testing, reviewing output diffs) with rigorous evaluation practices (**test sets, evals**) and **privacy-by-design** standards (e.g., synthetic/masked data, isolating clinical content from operational tools) --- ### Preferred Qualifications (You don’t need to meet every item—apply anyway.) - **Measurement infrastructure:** building custom measurement frameworks for cost, usage, and impact tracking - **Forward-deployed experience:** being forward-deployed to non-engineering teams or external customer organizations - **Model & cost optimization:** migrating systems across LLM models to optimize cost while maintaining quality guardrails - **Integration with legacy/messy systems:** integrating AI into complex platforms with imperfect data/APIs (e.g., CRM, billing, scheduling) - **Technical enablement:** coaching non-engineering team members to build/adopt workflows independently --- ### Benefits (Full-Time) - **100% remote** (must be based in the United States; **not hiring in Hawaii**) - **Attractive pay & benefits** with full transparency of pay ranges - Comprehensive health benefits: **Medical, dental, vision, life, disability, FSA/HSA** - **401(k)** access - Generous time off, including **2 company-wide shutdown weeks** each year (for most employees) - **Paid parental leave** (birthing, non-birthing, adopting, fostering) - **Employee Assistance Program (EAP)** - **Quarterly department stipend** for team-building/in-person gatherings - Community and employee resource groups - **Home office stipend** + **$50/month** for internet/cell phone expenses - **Wellness at Rula** program + **$50/month** wellness stipend --- ### Team & Culture Rula emphasizes **diversity, equity, and inclusion** and aims to build a culture where employees feel safe, seen, heard, and valued.
