## Overview Riot Engineers bring deep knowledge of specific technical areas and value the chance to work across broader domains. As a **Senior Software Engineer**, you’ll lead without authority and help other engineers by setting a clear example of extraordinary engineering. As a **Senior Software Engineer on the Core Integrations and Architecture team**, you’ll help shape how Riot collects and uses data to improve the experience for players and Rioters. You’ll build reliable data solutions at massive scale (petabytes), tackling challenges such as protecting player privacy, organizing and optimizing data warehouses with big data tools and cloud infrastructure, building platforms for ingesting data and serving real-time analytics, and enabling game teams with their specific features. You’ll also support advancements and fast iteration in machine learning pipelines. You’ll work with globally distributed systems and collaborate with a team of software engineers. You’ll report to the Engineering Manager of the team. --- ## Responsibilities - Implement new components and feature sets for data platform solutions across multiple problem spaces, including backend services, deployment, and monitoring - Participate in stand-ups and team rituals; collaborate with other engineers to deliver team goals - Contribute to code reviews - Join an on-call rotation to support live products - Provide meaningful code reviews for team members - Work collaboratively with non-technical customers to accomplish deliverables --- ## Required Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or comparable field) - 5+ years of experience with **Java, Scala, or similar object-oriented languages** - 2+ years of experience with **Python and SQL** - Knowledge of diverse public cloud technologies (e.g., **AWS RDS, S3, EC2, EKS, Lambda**, etc.) - Experience working in **Agile** and **DevOps** environments - Knowledge of the **data engineering** space --- ## Desired Qualifications - Experience with data engineering and/or data pipelines - Experience with streaming technologies such as **Kafka** or **Kinesis** - Experience with **Spark/PySpark** - Experience with **ML Operations (MLOps)** pipelines and infrastructure - Experience with open-source ETL frameworks such as **Airflow**, **Luigi**, or similar --- ## Success in This Role Success comes from craft expertise, a collaborative spirit, and decision-making that prioritizes fellow Rioters (the customers of your work).
