About this role
**Senior Software Engineer, Revenue Recapture** **Who we are** In the past, being a successful restaurateur meant having a passion for food and people—but to succeed as a digital restaurateur, you also need a passion for technology. Otter helps restaurateurs succeed in online food delivery by powering delivery operations, increasing sales, reducing order issues, and decreasing delivery headaches. **What you’ll do** - Own and evolve **Revenue Recapture** (our highest revenue-producing product). Revenue Recapture is an automated tool designed for restaurants to recover funds lost to third-party delivery platform errors, unwarranted refunds, and chargebacks. - Design and build end-to-end automation to improve dispute effectiveness and drive toward a fully **“no humans in the loop”** process—from data ingestion and decisioning to filing, tracking, and resolution. - Develop scalable, reliable backend services in **Java**, and build intuitive, maintainable front-end experiences that surface dispute status, outcomes, and insights. - Increase automation and win rates through experimentation; define and track success metrics. - Ensure reliability and quality via sound architecture, automated testing, observability, and a focus on high service uptime and resilience. - Collaborate with Product, Data, Operations, and Support to incorporate customer feedback and turn insights into product and engineering improvements. **What we’re looking for** - A customer-obsessed engineer who optimizes for the best outcomes for restaurant owners and measures impact with real results (e.g., dollars recovered, issues prevented). - Strong ownership and accountability from design through long-term support, with continuous system/process improvement. - Ability to context-switch quickly, handle ambiguity, and deliver in a fast-moving environment with evolving priorities. - Strong backend experience in **Java** building reliable distributed systems and integrations, with the ability to work across the stack (including front-end development). - Clear, concise communication; can explain ideas/trade-offs/plans to technical and non-technical audiences; strong writing skills (e.g., design docs). - Independent and self-directed, able to prioritize and deliver with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively cross-functionally. - Passion for high-quality code, robustness, no-regressions, automation, and industry-leading service uptime (values testing, observability, and CI/CD). **Why join us** - Demand for online food delivery is growing rapidly (US market expanded 10X in the last 5 years; projected growth continues). - Help change the restaurant industry by supporting restaurants’ success in online food delivery. - Collaborative environment with support and guidance from experienced colleagues and managers. **What else you need to know** - **Location:** Seattle office (onsite, five days a week). - **Base salary range:** **$167,000–$230,000/year** (final compensation varies by experience, skills, and qualifications). - May also be eligible for equity awards and an annual performance-based bonus. - **Benefits (USA Full-Time Exempt Employees):** Medical/dental/vision, life/disability, optional voluntary insurance, 401(k), HSA, flexible spending accounts, and time off including paid holidays, sick time, bereavement leave, and parental leave. *Atoms accepts applications on an ongoing basis.* **Ready to join us as we serve those who serve others?** *#LI-Onsite*
