Forward Deployed Engineer
Eagle · New York City
About this role
## About Eagle Eagle (https://www.eagleeng.com/) is on a mission to re-energize the engineering profession. Most engineering firms run on legacy software that’s error-prone, slow, and built before modern UX—so engineers spend less time designing the future of the built environment. Eagle is building “the iron man suit” for civil engineers: tools that remove tedium and help teams move faster and with more confidence. ## The Opportunity — Forward Deployed Engineer As a **Forward Deployed Engineer**, you’ll embed with engineering firms Eagle works with—sitting beside structural, civil, and MEP engineers to find the highest-leverage workflows and ship tools that work in **weeks, not quarters**. You’ll **own outcomes end-to-end** (not just tickets), and after winning at the edge, you’ll help compound what you learn into broader product leverage for Eagle. ## What You’ll Do - **Embed on-site** with engineers at partner firms: observe workflows, earn trust, and identify the best problems to solve - **Distill noisy feedback** into a clear opinion on what to build - **Own outcomes end-to-end**: discovery → build → deployment → debugging in production → iterate live with users - **Ship fast and bespoke** when deployment demands it - **Feed lessons back** into a platform that compounds across firms - Handle deployment needs such as: - Integrations to legacy Windows-native AEC software - Writing scrapers - Standing up off-the-shelf tools to test ideas before building the real thing - Collaborate directly with the **CTO** on technical direction, engineering culture, and what to build next ## Our Values - **Ask Why**: beginner’s mind, relentless curiosity, share learnings, continuously improve - **Read the Room**: listen first and meet people where they are - **Get on a Flight**: dogged persistence and urgency ## Technology - **Frontend**: NextJS (Vercel), Tailwind CSS - **Backend**: Kotlin (web services), Python (data) - **Infra**: Multitenant shared infra on AWS via Pulumi ## Compensation & Benefits - **Cash compensation**: **$150K–$300K** (depending on experience) - **Founding equity**, scaled to scope - **Health Insurance**: full healthcare, medical and dental - **401(k)** - **Flexible time off (PTO)** - **Travel**: company-paid - **Office**: HQ in New York City ## Process The process takes about **2 weeks**: 1. Conversation with Tom or Mayank 2. Second founder conversation 3. 60-minute technical interview 4. Work trial: meet the team and build with us for a day
