Many civil engineering firms still rely on legacy software that’s slow, error-prone, and built before modern UX. We’re building an “iron man suit” for civil engineers—helping them escape tedium and get back to designing the future of our built environment. ## The Opportunity As a **Software Engineer**, you’ll own the **platform layer** that impacts every user we engage with. You’ll partner directly with the CTO to shape the broader technical strategy, and you’ll treat the forward-deployed team as a user—synthesizing their needs to increase leverage at the edge. You’ll also have a front-row seat to building a company from zero in a problem domain that’s barely been touched by AI. ## What You’ll Do - Own the **system architecture** shared across our forward deployed engineers (data ingestion, API design, authorization, and our broader hybrid RAG system) - Own our **multi-tenant architecture** (each firm = a new tenant, new identity domain, and new source systems to connect) - Contribute to the delivery path from **commit to production**: CI/CD, preview environments, test infrastructure, and a local setup that works on day one - Shape what **“up”** means for us: instrument systems, contribute to observability, and help build incident management practices ## Our Values - **Ask Why**: beginner’s mind, incessantly ask questions, share learnings - **Read the Room**: listen first and meet people where they are - **Get on a Flight**: dogged persistence, urgency, and mutual push to improve ## What We Look For - You’ve owned architecture decisions within large distributed systems and have strong opinions about what you’d do differently next time - **5+ years** in platform-focused software engineering roles - Experience at a **fast-growing startup** ## Technology - **Frontend**: NextJS (Vercel), Tailwind CSS - **Backend**: Kotlin (web services), Python (data) - **Infra**: Multitenant shared infrastructure on **AWS** ## Compensation & Benefits - **Cash**: $150K–$300K (depending on experience) - **Equity**: Founding equity, scaled to scope - **Health**: Full healthcare (medical + dental) - **Retirement**: 401(k) - **PTO**: Flexible time off - **Travel**: Company-paid - **Office**: HQ in New York City ## Process ~2 weeks total: 1.
