As an early-stage startup employee, you’ll help shape the future of business trust. ### About the Role We’re hiring a **Staff Software Engineer** to join the **Financial Audit** team at Fieldguide. This is a high-impact, hands-on role where you’ll write code every day—and increasingly write code with AI. We’re **rethinking financial audit as agentic-first from the ground up**, not bolting AI onto traditional workflows. You’ll own major workstreams tied to our largest customer onboardings and most ambitious product bets, working closely with engineers, product managers, designers, and financial audit subject matter experts. ### What You’ll Do - **Set technical direction** for agentic financial audit experiences, making architectural decisions that balance **autonomy, reliability, and auditability** - **Own complex, ambiguous engineering problems** and drive them to resolution - **Design and build agent-driven workflows** from the ground up, defining where **AI autonomy** is appropriate and where **human judgment** must stay in the loop - **Partner with product and design** to shape what we build (not just how), bringing technical perspective early to roadmap and strategy - **Mentor and grow engineers** through code review, pairing, and how you communicate hard problems - **Contribute to the interview process** and help raise the bar as the team scales ### Who You Are - A **seasoned full-stack engineer** with a track record of driving large, complex projects from ambiguity to production - Experienced in setting **technical direction** at the team/org level—not just executing within it - Comfortable operating when requirements are unclear and the “right answer” isn’t obvious - A strong technical collaborator who influences **product and design** decisions - Already using **AI coding tools** as a core part of your workflow
