About this role
**Principal Engineer — PatientPoint (Network Solutions LLC)** Join PatientPoint to help build scalable, AI/ML-powered search and data platforms that improve health outcomes for patients nationwide. --- ## What you’ll do - **Architect & develop** resilient, scalable, cloud-native software solutions using **AI/ML, Lucene, vector search, Java, Python, AWS, and event-driven microservices**. - **Lead event-driven microservices**: design and optimize message processing for efficiency, fault tolerance, and reliability. - **Design NoSQL data models & storage** using technologies such as **DynamoDB, Cassandra, MongoDB**. - **Build and maintain APIs** including **RESTful** and **GraphQL** services with a strong focus on performance and security. - **Create real-time and batch data pipelines** using **Spring Batch, Apache Kafka, Spark, and Snowflake**. - **Implement streaming solutions** (e.g., **Apache Kafka**) for real-time processing and analytics. - **Operate multi-cloud solutions** across **AWS and Azure**. - **Ensure security & compliance** with best practices for data protection and risk management. - **Integrate and optimize AI/ML models** for real-time applications. - **Deconstruct complex projects** into maintainable systems that can be built by less experienced engineers. - **Drive long-term technology/domain strategies**, influence engineering standards, and support technical audits. - Maintain **technical documentation** and promote a **Security-First** culture. - Apply **Twelve-Factor App** methodology for portability and resilience. - Collaborate with application teams on **data strategies, data flows, and conceptual data models**. --- ## Travel / Work location - **10% travel** to headquarters (**Cincinnati, OH**) for team/company meetings (at least **5 times/year**, **3–4 days** each). - **100% telecommuting** allowed from anywhere in the United States. --- ## Required qualifications - **Bachelor’s degree** (or foreign equivalent) in **Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field**. - **5+ years** of experience in the job offered or related field. - **3+ years** hands-on experience with **public cloud** solutions (SaaS/PaaS/IaaS). ### Specific experience (highlights) - **PostgreSQL** relational data modeling (3 years) - **Microservices-based architectures** (3 years) - **Real-time distributed pipelines** with **Spring Batch, Apache Kafka, Spark** (3 years) - **OAuth2, OpenID Connect, SAML**, and encryption technologies (3 years) - **Container orchestration** on **Amazon EKS** or **Azure AKS** (3 years) - **Python 3.10** (2 years) - **Core Spring Framework** (Spring Core/IoC/DI, Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA) + **Spring Boot REST APIs** (2 years) - **Fault-tolerant distributed streaming** with **Apache Kafka** (2 years) - **Elasticsearch** search solutions (2 years) - **Java 17+** (1 year) - **MongoDB** (1 year) - **Data privacy & security principles**, **Twelve-Factor App**, and **CI/CD** using **Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Docker, Kubernetes, ArgoCD** --- ## Salary **$190,000 – $210,000** --- ## About PatientPoint PatientPoint is the **Point of Change** company, transforming the healthcare experience through behavior-changing content delivered at critical moments of care.
