With a voice-native foundation model accessed via cloud APIs or self-hosted/on-prem, Deepgram delivers accuracy, low latency, and cost efficiency—serving 1,300+ organizations and 200,000+ developers. ### About the Role As a **Billing & Analytics Engineer** on the **Console & Analytics** team, you’ll own the systems that convert Deepgram’s raw API usage into: - accurate invoices - revenue-grade analytics - a self-service billing experience for customers You’ll design and operate the full billing pipeline—from **usage event ingestion and metering** through **aggregation, rating, invoicing**, and integrations with third-party billing/CRM systems. You’ll also build the analytics surfaces that give customers visibility into consumption and provide internal teams the data needed to run the business. ### What You’ll Do **Usage Metering & Event Processing** - Design, build, and maintain the pipeline that ingests, validates, and processes usage messages - Ensure sub-second reliability at scale with **idempotency** and **exactly-once semantics** for billing accuracy **Usage Aggregation & Summarization** - Build aggregation layers that roll raw events into usage summaries by customer, product, time window, and pricing dimension - Optimize for query performance for both real-time dashboards and end-of-period billing runs **Billing System Integration** - Integrate with usage-based billing platforms (e.g., M3ter, Metronome, or equivalent) - Implement rating, plan management, and invoice generation - Handle edge cases: overages, credits, mid-cycle plan changes, enterprise commitments **CRM & RevOps Integration** - Build integrations with Salesforce and RevOps tooling to sync accounts, contract terms, entitlements, and billing status - Partner with Finance and RevOps to support revenue recognition, forecasting, and audit needs **Console Billing Experience** - Develop customer-facing billing and usage views in the Deepgram Console - Build actionable dashboards for real-time and historical usage, current spend, billing history, and plan details - Design self-service flows for plan upgrades, payment methods, and invoice retrieval **In-DC Access, Permissions & Token Management** - Own billing-adjacent authorization surfaces: API key/token management, usage-based access controls, entitlement enforcement, and permission models - Ensure systems are secure, auditable, and performant **Analytics & Reporting** - Build internal analytics pipelines/dashboards for usage trends, cohorts, conversion funnels, and revenue metrics - Instrument billing for operational observability (alerts on anomalies, reconciliation failures, SLA breaches) **Data Integrity & Reconciliation** - Automate reconciliation between usage events, aggregated summaries, billing records, and payment processor data - Build alerting and self-healing mechanisms to resolve discrepancies before they impact customers or revenue reporting ### What We’re Looking For - **5+ years** building and operating billing, payments, metering, or financial data systems in SaaS or usage-based pricing - Strong backend engineering skills (preferably **Rust**) and experience with **Python, TypeScript/Node.js, Go, or similar** - Deep experience with relational databas
