You’ll be expected to integrate AI into your workflows, adopt new models quickly, and continuously push what these technologies can do. ### The Opportunity Join the **Applied AI** team solving some of the toughest problems in voice AI for enterprise customers—often **zero to one**. Current focus areas include: - Ultra-robust ASR in noisy outdoor environments - Self-service fine-tuning and model adaptation for large enterprise customers - High-accuracy, domain-aware voice agents (e.g., drive-thru and phone ordering) - Robust scoring and evaluation of agents - Real-time analytics and operational intelligence - Deeper, more reliable on-site hardware integration ### What You’ll Do - Design, develop, and maintain **scalable, high-performance backend systems** - Improve **STT/TTS quality** across diverse environments - Expand **agent scoring and evaluation** capabilities - Fine-tune and adapt models for **customer-specific vocabulary and domains** - Optimize the AI pipeline for challenging audio, ambiguous requests, and rapid domain scaling - Run experiments to validate **product impact** - Collaborate to ensure seamless integration between **ML models, backend, and client devices** ### What We’re Looking For - **4+ years** hands-on experience building and maintaining **cloud infrastructure** in production - Applied AI/ML experience beyond using LLMs (e.g., **training, fine-tuning, or adapting models**) - Experience evaluating AI systems (e.g., building **evaluation/scoring** for models or agents) - Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt in a fast-moving startup environment - Excellent communication and collaboration skills - Willingness to problem-solve across the product - Proactive identification of problems and solutions - Results-oriented mindset with care for impact ### It Would Be Great If You Had - Experience working with **audio** - Experience with **speech-to-text** and/or **text-to-speech** models - Applied research experience (or background as a research engineer) - Experience taking a system **from zero to one** - Experience integrating with many 3rd-party APIs, especially **Point of Sale (POS)** systems - Experience with **Python, Kotlin, or TypeScript** - BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field ### Safety Notice Deepgram is aware of impersonators.
