About this role
**CoreWeave — Senior Software Engineer II (ML Workflows / W&B)** **About the Role** Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager for ML Workflows, you’ll own the architecture and evolution of core systems in the Weights & Biases (W&B) platform. ML Workflows powers what customers use to move models and data through W&B: - **Artifacts**: the versioned data layer for every object logged to W&B - **Registry**: the organization-wide source of truth for production-ready artifacts - **Automations**: the event/action layer the platform builds on - **Launch**: execution infrastructure for customer ML and agent workloads You’ll work end-to-end—from design through production reliability—across the W&B backend, Python SDK, and frontend. You’ll partner with product managers, designers, and ML platform engineers, and you’ll speak directly with enterprise ML teams about their workflows. **What You’ll Do** - Own the architecture and evolution of a core platform area, designing systems that scale to **billions of artifacts** and high-volume event/job throughput. - Dive deep into system architecture to find optimization opportunities, solve complex bugs, and make tradeoff decisions balancing short-term delivery with long-term platform health. - Work across the stack as needed: **Go backend services**, **GraphQL APIs**, **Python SDK**, and **TypeScript frontend**. - Lead migrations and re-architecture of systems carrying live customer traffic while keeping customer experience seamless. - Identify and refactor technical debt to improve maintainability and developer productivity. - Establish engineering patterns and best practices that scale with the platform. - Collaborate with product and design to turn complex user requirements into clean technical implementations. - Work directly with customers to understand ML workflow challenges and feed that back into the product cycle. - Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar across the team. **What We’re Looking For** - Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in CS/CE/Data Science/IS or a closely related technical/quantitative field. - **8+ years** of software engineering experience, including leading significant technical initiatives or architectural changes. - Strong proficiency in **Go** (or another compiled language such as C/C++/C#/Rust/Java) with ability to ramp on Go quickly. - Working proficiency in **Python**. - Comfort diagnosing and fixing difficult bugs across service boundaries, including systems you didn’t originally write. - Track record mentoring engineers and raising the technical bar. - Strong communication skills, including explaining complex technical decisions to different audiences. **Depth in 1–2 areas (examples)** - **Distributed systems & infrastructure**: production services, containers/Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, orchestration. - **Frontend & full-stack**: TypeScript/React, complex state management, frontend performance, delivering features to UI. - **Data at scale**: schema design, query performance, large-scale storage, analytical stores (e.g., ClickHouse). - **APIs & developer surfaces**: API design, GraphQL optimization/data fetching strategies, SDKs/client libraries. - **Event-driven systems**: Kafka/PubSub, delivery semantics, idempotency, retries. Experience in **ML infrastructure, MLOps, or developer tools** is a plus. **Compensation & Benefits (summary)** - Base pay and target total cash range: **$182,000–$242,000** (final offer depends on knowledge/skills/ex
