Join a collaborative, caring community where you can grow through hands-on experience, certifications, and training. **You are** A Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Engineer who builds reusable infrastructure, automation, and engineering foundations that product teams rely on. You help create secure, repeatable, observable, reliable environments that are easier for developers to use. You’ll support federal agency modernization by building, deploying, automating, and maintaining secure and efficient GCP cloud environments. **The work** - Design, build, automate, and operate cloud infrastructure and platform capabilities across GCP environments. - Create and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep, or comparable technologies. - Build and improve CI/CD pipelines, developer workflows, deployment automation, environment provisioning, and release controls. - Deploy and operate containerized workloads using Docker, Kubernetes, managed container platforms, or comparable technologies. - Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, observability, resilience, backup/recovery, and reliability practices. - Apply DevSecOps, identity/access, secrets management, network, configuration, patching, and security controls. - Automate repetitive operational work using scripting and engineering tools; support incident troubleshooting and root-cause analysis. - Use AFS-approved AI-assisted engineering tools/workflows to accelerate automation, troubleshooting, documentation, code development, and platform analysis (with output validation). - Partner with product engineers, Quality Engineers, Enterprise Architects, security teams, delivery leaders, and client stakeholders. - As you grow: lead complex platform initiatives, establish reusable patterns/standards, mentor engineers, and influence architecture and reliability practices. **Here’s what you need** - Professional experience in GCP cloud engineering, DevOps, platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, SRE, or comparable work (or equivalent practical experience). - Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep, or comparable). - Experience with CI/CD, Git-based workflows, scripting/automation, and modern software delivery practices. - Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, container platforms, or comparable workload orchestration. - Understanding of cloud networking, identity/access, observability, security, reliability, and operational troubleshooting. - For deeper experience: ability to lead complex platform initiatives, define standards, mentor others, and influence architecture/reliability decisions. **Bonus points if you have** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience. - Google Cloud (or comparable) certifications. - Experience with Helm, Argo CD, GitOps, service mesh, policy as code, secrets management, or platform engineering products. - SRE practices (SLIs/SLOs), incident management, capacity planning, FinOps, resilience engineering, or disaster recovery. - Federal cloud security, zero trust, FedRAMP-oriented environments, or regulated systems. - Experience collaborating with development and security teams and taking ownership of platform components/workstreams. - Previou
