## Principal Forward Deployed Engineer II — Frontier Engineering (Snowflake) Snowflake is powering the era of the **agentic enterprise**. We’re looking for **AI-native thinkers** who treat AI as a high-trust collaborator and thrive in fast-moving, experimental environments. As a **Principal Forward Deployed Engineer II** on the **Frontier Engineering** team, you’ll embed with Snowflake’s most strategic customers to **design, build, and deploy production-grade AI systems**. --- ## What you’ll do (IC6) - **Serve as senior technical authority & architectural leader** for customer engineering leadership - Build durable relationships with CTOs, VPs of Engineering, chief architects, and heads of data & AI - Lead architectural steering, technical reviews, and executive alignment - Shape **multi-year AI roadmaps** across a portfolio of customers - **Drive architecture & technical strategy across high-stakes deployments** - Set technical strategy, architecture, and execution model across complex AI engagements - Own end-to-end outcomes and arbitrate difficult cross-system tradeoffs - Establish scalable patterns across customers, teams, and business units - **Influence Snowflake product direction** - Translate recurring customer needs and deployment learnings into product requirements - Partner with Product and Engineering leaders to drive adoption of field-proven capabilities - **Stay hands-on and set the engineering bar** - Write production code and working prototypes on the most critical/ambiguous parts - Review designs and code; demonstrate deep judgment and technical rigor - **Set the AI quality & reliability bar** - Define standards for evaluation, observability, reliability, security, guardrails, and responsible deployment - Convert ambiguous goals into clear, testable measures and ensure consistent application - **Provide technical leadership & develop senior talent** - Mentor Principal/Staff/Senior engineers and develop technical leads - Raise engineering standards through influence across Engineering, Product, Sales, and more - **Travel to customer sites** - Spend **at least 25%** of your time onsite --- ## What you bring - **15+ years** of software engineering experience - Proven track record building and shipping **production AI/ML or agentic systems** at enterprise scale - Experience serving as a **trusted technical advisor** to CTOs and executive engineering leaders - Setting technical direction across multiple strategic accounts or enterprise programs - Ability to turn delivery patterns into reusable platforms, tools, frameworks, reference architectures, or libraries - Deep expertise in **production AI architectures**, including: - RAG pipelines, multi-step agentic systems, evaluation frameworks - Guardrails, observability, security, and enterprise operating models - Hands-on technical leadership - Writes/reviews production code and can move from executive strategy to critical implementation details - Strong systems thinking and communication - Influence without formal authority and align technical + executive stakeholders --- ## Bonus (nice to have) - Led cross-organizational technical initiatives improving enterprise AI design/deployment/adoption - Active contributions to open-source AI frameworks, technical publications, or speaking - Familiarity with **Cortex AI**, **Snowpark**, or modern enterprise data infrastructure platforms --- ## Why Frontier Engineering at Snow
