**Senior Software Engineer - Infrastructure** **About Pie** Pie’s mission is to empower small businesses to thrive by making commercial insurance affordable and as easy as pie. Pie Insurance’s Technology team builds and operates a suite of applications and services that allow direct consumers, partners, and agents to manage commercial insurance policies. The team works closely with business partners to design and implement new features to help the company scale with increasing demand. --- ## What You’ll Do - Define and evolve AWS infrastructure as code using **CDK**, with infrastructure treated like application code (review, testing, release discipline) - Apply security and compliance practices for a regulated industry, supporting **SOC2** (least-privileged IAM, secrets management, and clear network/account boundaries) - Participate in peer code reviews across both application and infrastructure changes - Write clean, maintainable, efficient code primarily in **TypeScript** (with some **C#** preferred) - Collaborate transparently with product management, designers, stakeholders, and fellow engineers - Help shape the design and architecture of scalable, secure, robust systems - Deliver software using continuous delivery pipelines and help enhance/optimize them - Assist support and operations by triaging and resolving production issues in a timely manner - Build modular, reusable code following industry standards and best practices - Participate in on-call rotations and continuously improve operational stability and system visibility - Continuously learn and stay current with software engineering best practices and new technologies - Leverage AI-powered development tools (e.g., **Claude Code**, **Cursor**) to accelerate code generation, testing, and documentation ## The Right Stuff - Demonstrated expertise in **AWS** technologies, best practices, and architecture - Experience leveraging **AWS CDK in TypeScript** - Deep understanding of network topology (**VPC, Security Groups, Route53**) and **IAM** access controls - Ability to craft solutions across greenfield and brownfield projects with adaptability and autonomy - Strong **CI/CD** best practices and experience with continuous integration/delivery using **GitHub** - Backend and infrastructure software engineering expertise (TypeScript; C# is a plus) - Proficiency using AI coding assistants (e.g., **Claude Code**, **Cursor**) as part of your workflow - Agile mindset focused on small, incremental improvements that deliver customer value - Growth mindset with openness to feedback and proactive learning - Strong personal accountability for delivering high-quality, secure, performance-optimized code --- ## Compensation & Benefits - **Base compensation range:** **$150,000 – $185,000 USD** - Competitive cash compensation - Comprehensive health plans - Generous PTO - Future-focused **401k match** - Generous parental and caregiver leave - Core values reflected in day-to-day work Pie also reviews company performance annually and may grant discretionary bonuses to eligible team members. --- ## Location Unless otherwise specified, this role is **remote**. - Remote team members must live and work in the **United States** (territories excluded) - Must have access to reliable, high-speed internet --- ## Additional Information - Pie is an **equal opportunity employer**. - Pie participates in the **E
