**Platform Engineer - Python/Java/AWS/Linux** **About the Role** Captivation is looking for a Cloud Platform Engineer with experience in AWS cloud technologies, Python, and a strong Linux foundation. You’ll contribute to custom software components and integrate open-source code to solve complex time series analysis problems using modern Big Data/Cloud technologies. You’ll work autonomously to identify and resolve issues quickly while aligning to broader strategic goals set by the team’s architects. **Responsibilities** - Enhance, optimize, and increase robustness of existing code bases - Build and manage virtual infrastructure in the cloud using infrastructure-as-code and modern tooling - Design and implement core architecture and capabilities from prototype through operational applications - Other duties as assigned **Requirements** - **Security Clearance:** A current U.S. Government clearance is not required at start, but you must be processed for a **Secret** level clearance. **U.S. citizenship required.** - **Minimum Qualifications:** - 9+ years in Platform Engineering or Software Development (Python or Java) with a Bachelor’s in a related field; **or** 7 years with a Master’s; **or** High School Diploma/equivalent and 13 years relevant experience - Experience developing infrastructure in **AWS** - Solid understanding of **Linux**, hosts, networks, security, applications, and proficiency in **Shell/Bash** - Excellent oral and written communication skills - Ability to obtain **Security+** within **60 days** of hire - Ability to work in a **hybrid** environment (average **1–2 days/week** at the Columbia, MD office) **Preferred Qualifications** - **TS/SCI** clearance preferred - Familiarity with DISA’s Big Data Platform or similar systems (e.g., Cloudera, Hortonworks, MapR) - Experience with **Kubernetes** (or a vendor variant) - Experience with **CI/CD** pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI, Travis CI) - Understanding of agile methodologies and common tool suites (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, GitHub/GitLab) - Experience with **Puppet/Ansible**, **Maven**, and virtualization (e.g., oVirt, Proxmox, VMware) - DoD **8140/8570 IAT Level II** compliance certifications may be required **Notes** - **Direct hires only** — candidates from third-party staffing/recruiting firms will not be considered. **Benefits** - Annual Salary: **$130,000 – $270,000** (depends on years of experience) - Up to **20% 401(k)** contribution (no matching required; vested from day 1) - Above-market hourly rates - **$3,600 HSA** contribution - **6 weeks** paid time off - Company-paid medical/dental/vision, life insurance, short-term & long-term disability, and AD&D
