About this role

**AI Acceleration Engineer — Decagon** Decagon is a conversational AI platform enabling brands to deliver concierge customer experiences across voice, chat, email, SMS, and more. The company is in-office and values excellence, velocity, and building practical AI systems that teams can adopt quickly. --- ### About the Role You’ll be hands-on, owning what you build end-to-end and continuously improving it. This role focuses on turning manual business processes into reliable systems and enabling the rest of the company to automate their work with AI. You will: - **Own projects end to end**: requirements → solution design → development → testing → deployment → ongoing maintenance. - **Build and maintain internal web apps and integrations** used by teams (including contract/revenue systems and new tools you create). - **Partner with stakeholders** across Finance, Accounting, Legal, People, and Recruiting to identify automation opportunities and decide between **custom builds, AI vendors, or hybrid approaches**. - Lead major workstreams such as **billing, revenue recognition, usage data ingestion, and reconciliation** across internal data, ERP, and Salesforce. - Build **AI interfaces** for others to use your systems via **MCP servers, skills, agents, and agent-facing tooling**. - **Measure and communicate impact** (time saved, cost reduced, errors eliminated). This is **not** a role about evaluating tools or writing decks—it’s a technical role solving business problems directly with the teams whose workflows you’re changing. --- ### What You’ll Bring - **6+ years** building internal tools, systems, and automations business teams rely on (internal tooling, business systems, and/or revenue/finance ops). - Experience owning projects across the full lifecycle, including **ongoing maintenance**. - Ability to build **production-quality internal tools** (and you prefer solving business problems over product engineering). - Strong generalist skills: you can go deep on one domain (e.g., billing) and switch to another (e.g., recruiting workflows). - Solid systems instincts: data flow, failure points, and long-term maintainability. - Judgment on when to use **agentic/AI approaches** vs. **deterministic pipelines**. - Hands-on experience with **AI-native coding tools** (e.g., Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) and shipping production solutions. - Coding experience preferred: **Python, TypeScript, or JavaScript**, plus **API work** and deploying what you build. - Ability to build trust and drive complex projects under ambiguity. --- ### Nice to Have - Led AI acceleration / transformation initiatives. - Product mindset: build automations people actually adopt. - Hands-on **GCP** experience (Cloud Run, BigQuery, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub). - Built **custom MCP servers** (not just used them). - Experience with **billing or revenue systems**, or ERP implementations. --- ### Compensation & Benefits **Compensation:** **$180K – $220K + Equity** **Benefits (full-time employees):** - Medical, Dental, and Vision (you and your family) - Life Insurance and Disability Benefits - Retirement Plan (e.g., 401K, pension) - Parental Leave - Fertility and family building benefits (through Carrot) - Monthly wellness/lifestyle stipend - Daily lunches and snacks in the office - Flexible vacation policy (subject to local requirements; UK employees receive 25 days statutory leave) Benefits may vary by location and can change over time.
