We’re looking for a **Software Engineer** who can get stuff done while making a difference in support of the mission to protect our country. --- ## Description Captivation Software is seeking a talented and experienced **Software Engineer** to design, develop, and implement complex software capabilities for computer-based systems. You’ll work closely with other engineers to create software solutions that meet client needs. You’ll have the opportunity to work with modern tools and technologies and stay up-to-date with the latest developments. This role is **hybrid** (remote + in-person). Flexibility is key, and you’ll have the option to work from home or from the office based on preferences and needs. --- ## Responsibilities - Develop **Java-based** software capabilities - Bring an inquisitive mindset, responsiveness, and strong testing skills - Troubleshoot effectively and work well under pressure with multiple deadlines - Stay current with emerging trends and technologies - Work in a fast-paced, small business environment - Other duties as assigned --- ## Requirements ### Security Clearance - **U.S. Citizenship required** - A current U.S. Government Security Clearance is **not required on day 1**, but you will be processed for a **Secret** level - A current **Secret** or **TS/SCI** is a huge plus ### Minimum Qualifications - **At least 5 years** of experience in Software Engineering, Modern Java frameworks/libraries (e.g., **Spring, Guava**) and a **Bachelor’s** in a related field - (Or 3 years with a **Master’s**, or High School Diploma/equivalent with **9 years** relevant experience) - Experience designing **enterprise APIs** - Experience with **RESTful web services** - Experience with **Microservices architecture** - Experience with **Object Oriented Programming (OOP)** paradigms - Experience with the **agile** software lifecycle - Proven ability to learn quickly; works well independently and in a team - Experience with **Linux** - Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., **Git, Nexus, Maven**) - Must have **DoD 8140 / 8570 compliance certification** (i.e., **Security+**) - Must be able to work **hybrid**: average **1–2 days/week** at the **Columbia, MD** office (schedule flexibility required) ### Preferred Qualifications - Current **Secret** or **TS/SCI** - Experience with **NiFi, Kafka, AWS Infrastructure, and Kubernetes (K8s)** - Experience with cloud technologies (**AWS, Azure**) - Experience with distributed/NoSQL databases and search engines (e.g., **Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Solr**) - Scripting experience (huge plus) - Familiarity with the company’s **Big Data Platform** - Understanding of Agile methodologies and standard tool suites (e.g., **JIRA, Confluence, GitHub Enterprise**) --- **Note:** This position is open for **direct hires only**.
