Integration and Test Engineer, Software
Anduril Industries · Costa Mesa, California, United States
About this role
**Anduril Industries — Integration and Test Engineer (Software)** **About the Team** The Maneuver Dominance team at Anduril develops operationally relevant, multi-asset autonomy. You’ll help grow an early-stage, undisclosed autonomous air vehicle (AAV) program at the team’s Costa Mesa HQ, working on heavy modification and integration of advanced autonomy, mission systems, and payloads. **About the Job** Anduril is seeking an Integration and Test Engineer with a strong software focus to help develop and scale Hardware-In-The-Loop (HITL) capabilities. This role focuses on software infrastructure, test frameworks, automation, and tooling to bring up and operate complex HITL systems—bridging simulation, hardware integration, and system-level testing. **What You’ll Do** - Develop and maintain the test framework and software infrastructure bridging Software-In-The-Loop (SITL) to Hardware-In-The-Loop (HITL) - Build logging infrastructure and log-processing tooling to capture, organize, correlate, and analyze HITL behavior - Create diagnostics and telemetry debug capabilities for integration/test troubleshooting - Develop fault-injection capabilities for controlled failures and degraded conditions - Build automated tests for fault detection, handling, recovery, and graceful degradation - Create configuration management tracking tools for consistent, reproducible HITL configurations - Automate HITL health checks, setup, configuration, deployment, and test execution - Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for regression testing - Establish software and testing best practices so HITL becomes a reliable part of the development lifecycle - Support physical stand-up, configuration, and maintenance of open-loop and closed-loop HITLs and related integrations - Troubleshoot real-time simulation issues (timing constraints, hardware interface problems, model fidelity discrepancies) - Partner with software, systems, simulation, and hardware engineers to resolve integration and test issues - Maintain a strong safety mindset (“Stop, Think, Do”) in prototype/experimental environments - Follow procedures and continuously improve safety, quality, and efficiency **Required Qualifications & Attributes** - Bachelor’s degree (or similar) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace/Aeronautics, or related field - Ability to take ownership of software infrastructure from development through deployment, testing, and maintenance - Experience building automated test frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, configuration management, and test tooling (logging, diagnostics, debug utilities) - Strong proficiency in **Python** and **C++** - Experience with **GitHub** - Experience developing/operating software frameworks for HIL/HITL/Ironbird/System Support Equipment for UAS/aerospace/defense integration and test environments (Group 4/Group 5) - Understanding of software/hardware interfaces, networking, and electrical bus protocols (CAN, Ethernet, RS-232/422/485, MIL-STD-1553) - Strong debugging skills across software and hardware boundaries - Hands-on experience troubleshooting electrical systems, harnesses, LRUs, and electro-mechanical assemblies - Experience with diagnostic/protocol analysis tools (e.g., Saleae Logic Analyzers, Wireshark, PEAK-System CAN interfaces, or similar) - Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment - Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, interpersonal) - Commitment to a posit
