## Sr. Software Engineer - EAP/Employer (Remote) ### About the Role Rula is a remote-first company hiring across most U.S. states (not currently hiring in Hawaii). As a **Fullstack Senior Software Engineer**, you’ll design and scale robust systems within an autonomous, cross-functional team. You’ll join the **Partnerships** org and work with the **Employer & EAP** team, which builds technology for two of Rula’s fastest-growing channels: - **Employer Portal**: the self-service product for HR and benefits leaders to launch awareness campaigns, manage rollouts, and track utilization. - **EAP (Employee Assistance Programs)**: support employer-funded, short-term therapy benefits across the patient and provider experience—covering session eligibility, authorization, and billing. This role offers end-to-end ownership across employer-facing tools and the patient/provider flows that connect people to care. ### Required Qualifications - **5+ years** of professional software development experience; proven track record building and scaling **web applications** in production - Experience leading **high-priority technical projects** from conception to delivery, including navigating trade-offs and aligning stakeholders - Passion for building a high-performing engineering culture through **code reviews, technical documentation, and mentoring** - Deep expertise in modern full-stack technologies—**TypeScript, React, Node.js**—with strong functional and object-oriented programming fundamentals - Proficiency using **AI-assisted development tools** (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate delivery and improve code quality - Ability to design and implement **complex distributed systems** that are scalable, maintainable, and secure ### Preferred Qualifications (Non-mandatory—assessed in interviews) - Hands-on experience developing or integrating **LLM-based features** or **agentic workflows** in production - Familiarity with **cloud-native infrastructure** (AWS/GCP), **Docker/Kubernetes**, and **CI/CD** pipeline optimization - Experience thriving in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment - Advanced knowledge of **database design** and performance tuning for **PostgreSQL** and non-relational data stores ### Benefits (Full-Time) - **100% remote** work environment (must be based in the United States; not hiring in Hawaii) - **Attractive pay and benefits** with full transparency of pay ranges - Comprehensive health benefits: **Medical, dental, vision, life, disability, FSA/HSA** - **401(k)** plan access - Generous time off, including **2 company-wide shutdown weeks** each year - **Paid parental leave** for all parents (birthing, non-birthing, adopting, fostering) - **Employee Assistance Program (EAP)** - Quarterly department stipend for team-building/in-person gatherings - Community and employee resource groups - Home office stipend + **$50/month** internet/cell phone support - Wellness at Rula program with **$50/month** wellness stipend ### Our Team Rula is committed to **diversity, equity, and inclusion** and building a culture where employees feel safe, seen, heard, and valued.
