The Fanatics App brings together free-to-play games, live events, ecommerce, and new product experiences. ### Overview As a **Sr. Staff Engineer** at Fanatics, you’ll be a recognized technical leader—**strategic and hands-on**—leading ambitious projects and setting the standard for your team. You’ll help shape engineering direction, drive execution end-to-end, and cultivate a culture of excellence and innovation. ### Responsibilities - Develop a deep understanding of the industry, product, and roadmap to shape team strategy and influence organizational direction - Lead end-to-end technical execution of complex features/systems (ideation → architecture → deployment → refinement) - Define and enforce engineering principles, guidelines, and best practices - Be a **Customer Focused Android Platform expert**, driving decisions for Android and the mobile ecosystem for the Fanatics apps using **Kotlin** (including Kotlin Multiplatform) - Partner with product, design, and stakeholders to make high-impact technical decisions aligned to business goals and long-term scalability - Collaborate with iOS and Android leaders to share best practices, code, and features across multiple apps - Participate in on-call incident resolution to diagnose and remediate critical software issues - Proactively remove roadblocks and coordinate cross-team collaboration to maintain momentum - Conduct and elevate code reviews to improve code quality - Lead team planning and design discussions; introduce innovative approaches and optimize design patterns - Drive improvements in software quality, testability, operational metrics, and team documentation - Mentor and coach engineers at all levels - Be open to occasional travel for conferences, events, meetings, and team-building activities ### Required Qualifications - **10+ years** building highly scalable, performant, and beloved **Android** apps - Strong expertise in **Kotlin Multiplatform**, **Compose Multiplatform**, and other Android technologies - Proven ability to drive consensus and mentor others in coding and architectural strategies - Systems-level functional knowledge of **Backend Client API**, **Platform Engineering**, and client-supporting systems (e.g., Marketing/Analytics) - Observability knowledge: logging, monitoring, and tracing in native apps - Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences - Team-first mindset; thrives in a high-growth environment with evolving priorities ### Preferred Qualifications - Experience sharing code across multiple native/cross-platform apps (e.g., Kotlin Multiplatform, Compose Multiplatform) - Experience with webviews and integrating coherent app experiences across technologies - Experience in sports, e-commerce, or gaming - Ability to work across diverse codebases (legacy + greenfield) and environments ### Location & Compensation - Salary Range: **$163,000–$265,000 USD** (varies by country/state and Geographical Compensation Zones) - Full-time employment and additional base/bonus compensation ### Notes - Fanatics will never ask candidates for money or sensitive personal information as part of the interview process. - If you receive a suspicious message claiming to be from Fanatics recruiting, do not re
