**Staff+ Software Engineer, Platform Acceleration** **About Anthropic** Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems—safe and beneficial for users and society. **About the role** Platform Acceleration builds internal tools that help Anthropic’s product engineers ship faster and with confidence. You’ll work like a small product team serving other Anthropic engineers who rely on your tooling. **What you’ll do** - Own the technical strategy and roadmap for your area, ensuring the hardest problems get solved - Stay hands-on: design, build, and operate tools that help Platform teams ship code faster - Define what it takes to trust a change (including Claude-written changes) and build tooling that enforces that bar before/after merge - Build agents to handle repetitive engineering work (diagnosing failures, fixing broken tests, running migrations) - Embed with partner teams to identify friction, validate solutions, and turn fixes into broadly adoptable products - Measure developer experience and adoption, using data to decide what to build next - Shift between building new tools and improving shared systems as priorities change **You might be a good fit if you:** - Have experience building and operating large-scale backend services or distributed systems in production - Are proficient in Go, Python, Rust, or TypeScript - Have deep experience with developer tooling, CI/CD, test infrastructure, or deployment systems - Have experience with cloud infrastructure and container orchestration - Can lead large, complex technical projects across teams—from ambiguous problem to widely used tool - Communicate clearly (written + verbal) and support internal partner teams - Are interested in Anthropic’s mission of building safe, beneficial AI **Preferred qualifications** - Startup experience or similarly small team experience (zero-to-one, direct user conversations) - Experience building agents that do engineering or other technical work - Experience building widely adopted CLI tools, developer-facing services, GitHub automation, or open source developer tools - Depth in progressive delivery, observability, VM orchestration, sandboxed execution, or workflow orchestration - Experience working in a large monorepo - Enough full-stack ability to provide usable interfaces - A point of view on how software engineering changes as agents write more code **Deadline to apply** None — applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. **Location preference** Preference for candidates based in **NY, SEA, SF, or the Bay Area** (team location dependent). **Compensation (annual salary)** **$405,000 — $485,000 USD** **Logistics** - **Minimum education:** Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/training/experience - **Required field of study:** Relevant to the role (via coursework/training/professional experience) - **Minimum years of experience:** Correlates with internal job level requirements - **Hybrid policy:** Expected to be in an office at least **25%** of the time (some roles may require more) - **Visa sponsorship:** Yes—Anthropic sponsors visas, though not for every role/candidate **Safety note** Anthropic recruiters contact candidates only from **@anthropic.com** (or vetted recruiting agencies).
