Launched in 2024, Dakota serves hundreds of customers and processes billions in annualized transaction volume. - Fully remote from day one - Lean but experienced team distributed across North America and Europe - Remote-only, equal-opportunity employer - Hiring currently available in: **U.S., United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal** ## About the Role — Senior Software Engineer, Payments You’ll join Dakota’s core engineering team to design and implement robust back-end infrastructure powering our blockchain-integrated banking platform. From day one, you’ll work on high-visibility projects that directly impact our financial products and customer experience, with a focus on **payment processing and operations** as we build next-generation financial infrastructure. ## Tech Stack - **Google Cloud Platform (GCP)** - **Kubernetes** - **Golang** (most backend services and infrastructure tools) - **TypeScript** (front-end apps, deployed via **Vercel**) - **PostgreSQL & TimescaleDB** - **Buildkite** (CI/CD) - **GitHub** - **Sentry** (error tracking) - **Incident.io** (incident management) ## Requirements - **5+ years** experience in software engineering - Strong grasp of **Golang** - Ability to **own and drive engineering projects** - Extreme proactivity in identifying and fixing issues in the product and codebase - Excellent troubleshooting skills; ability to diagnose complex system issues - Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across engineering teams - Located in the **US, UK, Spain, or Portugal** ## Preferred Qualifications - Conceptual familiarity with financial systems, especially **payment processing** - Professional experience (or strong interest) in **systems programming** (e.g., Rust) - Proficient with **LLMs** and effective prompting techniques (especially **Claude**) - Experience working at a **fintech** company or regulated financial institution - Knowledge of **accounting principles** or accounting systems ## What We Offer - Engaging problems that increase economic freedom globally - Collaborative environment with a high-caliber team (from Coinbase, Anchorage, Messari, Square, Airbnb, and more) - Competitive salary and equity in a high-growth fintech - Fully remote working environment - Monthly coworking space stipend - Home office equipment stipend - Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance - Regular team events and off-sites
